Liam's friend has decided to drop his defamation lawsuit against Liam's dad, Geoff. Roger filed legal documents to dismiss the lawsuit on Wednesday, stating that he wants to move on and focus on more productive matters.

While he has dismissed the suit without prejudice, indicating that it could potentiallybe refiled in the future, he has expressed that he does not intend to take further action.

Roger initially sued Geoff in January, claiming that the older Payne was making defamatory statements in the media following Liam's tragic death in October after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

A key point of contention was Geoff's assertion that Roger was responsible for looking after Liam at that time, something Roger firmly denied.

The Blast shared that in February, a court ruling cleared Roger and two hotel employees of manslaughter charges related to the tragic death of Liam.

An autopsy had earlier confirmed that the singer had a lethal mix of substances in his system when he fell from his balcony following a night of drug use.

The ruling came in favor of Roger and hotel staff members, including security chief Gilda Martin and receptionist Esteban Grassi, who were accused alongside Liam's close friend.

In a statement to Rolling Stone after the verdict, Roger expressed his relief, stating he was happy to finally have closure and could now travel to the UK to say goodbye to the artist.

Roger's attorney, Rafael Cuneo Libarona, also expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, reiterating that his client was not responsible for Liam's death. The attorney emphasized that he was merely a friend without any legal obligation to ensure the singer's safety.

A court had previously ruled that there was no evidence of negligence or recklessness on the part of the hotel staff regarding the events that led to Liam's death.

Roger, who had maintained a close friendship with the late singer for a while, also consistently denied any responsibility for the tragedy, claiming that Argentine authorities unfairly targeted him as a "scapegoat."

He emphasized that he visited the hotel three times on the day of the incident and had just left 40 minutes before it occurred, noting that there were over 15 people in the lobby chatting and joking with Liam when he departed.

"I could have never imagined something like this would happen," Roger said. He maintained that he was not the singer's manager but a very dear friend.

As shared by The Blast, a report from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 14 revealed concerning details surrounding the late One Direction star Liam's tragic death. It was found that he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.7 grams per liter, equivalent to 0.27%.

According to Alcohol.org, this level is dangerously high, often leading to severe symptoms such as confusion and disorientation. If his BAC had escalated to 0.3% or above, it could have resulted in alcohol poisoning, and levels reaching 0.4% are known to be potentially fatal.

In addition to alcohol, toxicology tests revealed that Liam had various drugs in his system, including cocaine and its metabolites, as well as crack, ketamine, and the medication sertraline. This mixture of substances indicates that the troubling cocktail may have contributed to his untimely demise.

Earlier this month, reports mentioned concerns about Liam's mental health leading up to his painful death. It was revealed that his father, Geoff, had sought professional help for Liam due to his troubling behavior.

At the beginning of 2024, Liam was described as being in a "fragile state" and subsequently checked into a rehab facility in Spain. This move coincided with the release of his final single, "Teardrops."

Unfortunately, Liam vacated the treatment center before completing his treatment for unspecified reasons, a decision that proved to be detrimental. Just weeks later, he reportedly relapsed, prompting his father to attempt to secure his admission to a psychiatric treatment center, which Liam ultimately refused.

May Liam Payne's soul continue to rest in perfect peace.
