'Vanderpump Rules' Star Ally Lewber Breaks Silence On End Of 'Fairy Tale' Romance With James Kennedy

Ally Lewber is finally breaking her silence on the unraveling of what she once called a "fairy tale" romance with James Kennedy.

The 29-year-old opened up about the painful night in December 2024 when Kennedy was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. 

In January, Lewber confirmed that they had officially parted ways, expressing gratitude that prosecutors chose not to pursue charges against her former partner.

Ally Lewber and James Kennedy had been a couple since early 2022, getting together just six weeks after his split from Raquel Leviss. In a heartfelt conversation, Lewber spoke about how everything seemed perfect during the holiday season until the truth came crashing down.

During therapy, she was forced to confront the harsh reality that Kennedy had been hiding his alcohol use. "I felt like I was living in a fairy tale," she shared, only for her therapist to point out that the romance was a lie due to his deception. 

As she delved deeper into her feelings, Lewber realized the toxic dynamic, where she had been "walking on eggshells" and constantly anxious about Kennedy's behavior. Though she never felt physically unsafe, she came to understand the emotional toll it was taking on her mental well-being.

According to PEOPLE, Lewber's journey also helped her unpack why she had been drawn to partners with alcohol issues, something tied to her father's alcohol-related death when she was just 11. 

Despite all the challenges, she now sees the public nature of the split as a blessing in disguise. "I'm weirdly grateful because it made me face the facts," she admitted.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Lewber also recalled how the evening began with excitement; she had just recorded the first episode of her new podcast, "StarStruck," with Kennedy as her guest. However, things quickly took a turn at Kathy Hilton's Christmas party.

While Lewber worked at the event, she claims Kennedy was secretly drinking, and his demeanor drastically changed once they left the party. Despite initially doubting he had broken his sobriety, Lewber quickly realized something was off.

As they argued in the car, Kennedy allegedly denied being drunk, leading to escalating tensions that continued once they got out of the Uber. Lewber claims she eventually requested the police breathalyze Kennedy, but although they could not do so, they confirmed he was intoxicated. Lewber explained:

"They assessed the situation, and I was not hurt physically. Emotionally, yes. But yeah, that's kind of how that night played out, unfortunately."

After overcoming the emotional turmoil from her relationship with Kennedy, Lewber is "excited" about dating again but is committed to taking things slowly this time around. Lewber revealed that she is looking for a "whole and complete" partner who does not need fixing. 

While she acknowledges that Kennedy was not all these things, she now understands the importance of finding a balance in a relationship. Reflecting on past mistakes, Lewber admits:

"I think having someone who comes in and is just fun and kind of brings this side where it's like, 'Oh, I don't have to take life that seriously,' it's weird how in the beginning, those qualities are so attractive, and then later, it's like, wait, that's actually not a great quality to have."

Before her recent revelations, the influencer confirmed the end of their relationship in a now-expired heartfelt Instagram story earlier this year. 

The Blast reported that in her post, Lewber expressed relief that prosecutors chose not to press charges, clarifying that she never wanted him to face prosecution over an incident that did not escalate to physical harm. 

She shared that the arrest followed a disagreement outside Kennedy's home concerning his relapse into drinking, revealing how the situation quickly spiraled.

While the headlines surrounding Kennedy's arrest were damaging, Lewber took the high road, stating, "We're no longer together, but I'll always stand by James and wish him the best with his sobriety and healing. Thank you for understanding."

Kennedy's December 2024 arrest made headlines, but that incident was far from his first encounter with controversy involving women. The reality TV star, known for his explosive behavior, had already been embroiled in a domestic violence scandal a year earlier.

In the fall of 2023, troubling allegations about Kennedy's treatment of women in his life were reportedly brought to light by a concerned insider. 

According to sources, an Evolution Media employee, the production company behind "Vanderpump Rules," raised alarms with Bravo executives about Kennedy's abusive conduct. 

These allegations, which had been circulating quietly behind the scenes, suggested that he had attacked multiple women he had dated.

With her story now out in the open, Ally Lewber is ready to move forward, embracing new beginnings and leaving the past behind.
