The "Material Girl" singer posted a picture of her and John sharing a warm hug behind the scenes at "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend.
In the post's caption, Madonna narrated how she and the music legend's feud began.
She wrote, "We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!! I went to see @eltonjohn perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW."
Madonna continued, "I remembered when I was in high school- I snuck out of the house one night to see Elton perform live in Detroit! It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music."
The 66-year-old shared how John's performance changed her life. She wrote, "Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. "
Madonna continued, "I had always felt like an outsider growing up, and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to-stand out- to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential."
Madonna Shares How She And Elton John Resolved Their Feud

Sir Elton John's past criticism of Madonna made her sad because of how much she admired him.
She wrote, "Over the decades, it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn't understand it."
Due to how she felt about John's dislike of her, Madonna decided to attend his "SNL" performance to confront him. However, instead of a confrontation, she made up with him.
She wrote, "I was told Elton John was the music guest on SNL and I decided to go. I needed to go backstage and confront him."
Madonna continued, "When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Forgive Me" and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool."
The iconic songstress concluded, "Within minutes. We were hugging. Then he told me [he] had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody, This is Your Song.........."

Several fans reacted to the musical icons' reconciliation in the comments section of Madonna's post.

Another fan added, "Music makes the people come together."
A third person commented, "Forgiveness can save the world, Queen! What a beautiful story!"
History Of Madonna And Elton John's Feud

What started as a seemingly playful relationship between two music icons eventually spiraled into one of pop culture's most public celebrity feuds.
John and Madonna first appeared together at the 1995 BRIT Awards, sharing laughs and posing for pictures backstage.
However, things turned sour in 2002 when John harshly criticized Madonna's "James Bond" theme for "Die Another Day," calling it "the worst Bond tune ever."
Although he acknowledged her talent, he suggested that Shirley Bassey or even himself might have performed the song better.
Tensions escalated in 2004 during the Q Awards in London. While accepting the Classic Songwriter Award, John took a jab at Madonna, who had been nominated for Best Live Act.
He accused her of lip-syncing on stage and declared, "Anyone who lip-syncs in public on stage when you pay £75 to see them should be shot." Madonna's publicist responded graciously, insisting that she doesn't lip-sync and that John would remain on her Christmas card list, regardless of his behavior.
From Lip-Sync Accusations To Golden Globe Showdowns

Although Elton John later admitted his comments were harsh and said he would apologize if he saw Madonna, the tension didn't end there.
After she declined to perform at his bachelor party, John reportedly called her a "miserable cow" to his guests.
Madonna's response was classy as usual: she wished John all the best and hoped marriage would bring him happiness.
The feud hit another peak during the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Confident that Madonna had no shot at winning Best Original Song, John was left stunned when she took the prize over his track "Hello Hello."
While John's husband, David Furnish, criticized the win online, Madonna took the high road, praising the "Cold Heart" singer's talent and saying, "He'll win another award. I don't feel bad."
