George Clooney may be Hollywood’s quintessential cool guy, but according to a new book and accompanying reporting, the Oscar-winning actor lost his temper in a big way after "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested Barack Obama was behind his controversial New York Times op-ed calling for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 election.

In "Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History," author Chris Whipple claims George Clooney was “apoplectic” after Brzezinski implied on-air that his public call for Biden to step aside had been orchestrated by former President Obama.

The July 11, 2024, segment aired shortly after George Clooney’s op-ed, which sent shockwaves through political and entertainment circles.

“This wasn’t George Clooney,” Brzezinski said during the broadcast, according to Page Six. “I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence, and I think that there’s, there’s a lot there.”

Whipple alleges that Clooney immediately phoned a producer on "Morning Joe," reportedly a personal friend, to unleash a tirade over the implication and the lack of pushback from the rest of the show’s team.

“His phone lit up and it’s George Clooney, a good friend of his, and Clooney went absolutely ballistic,” Whipple writes. “What ensued was an exchange of F-bombs for, you know, several minutes.”

According to Whipple and journalist Tara Palmeri, who shared the details in her "Substack The Red Letter," Clooney was livid that no one challenged Brzezinski’s theory that Obama “put him up to” the editorial.

“‘You [f–cked] me. You’re my friend. You should have stood up for me,’” Clooney allegedly told the MSNBC staffer. The response reportedly wasn’t what the "Ocean’s Eleven" star expected. “‘George, it’s just not a movie, where you go script page to script page,’” the producer replied.

Clooney’s alleged response? “F–k you.” The producer allegedly hit back, “‘[F–k] yourself,’” prompting Palmeri to commend the staffer’s guts. “I’ve got to give it to the producer. Not a lot of them would probably shout back at an A-list actor like that,” she noted.

But that wasn’t the end of it.

Clooney, still reportedly furious, allegedly called the producer again later.

Attempting to diffuse the tension, the staffer allegedly told him, “This is a morning talk show on a cable channel. Nobody gives a [f-ck] if we say if [Biden] should get out or if he should stay in. Nobody [f-cking] cares. It’s sky-writing. It’s [f-cking] gone. George, I told you before. We’ll try and take care of it tomorrow morning. I promise you.”

Clooney allegedly remained skeptical, saying, “I don’t know whether I trust you,” which prompted the now-infamous sign-off: “Well, [f-ck] you if you don’t trust me. Stop [f-cking] calling me.”

Palmeri wrapped up her reporting with a mic drop: “Doesn’t sound like the cool George Clooney that we know.”

Clooney has not publicly commented on the story.

This latest drama comes as Clooney is trading the glitz of Hollywood for the grit of Broadway as he takes center stage in the theatrical adaptation of "Good Night, And Good Luck."

The Emmy and Oscar winner is currently starring as legendary CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow in the stage version of the 2005 political drama he originally co-wrote, directed, and starred in. While he previously played CBS President Fred Friendly on screen, Clooney now steps into Murrow’s shoes, and it’s a leap he’s taking seriously.

“I had to get better at inhaling,” he admitted, noting that he’s been sneaking outside for real cigarettes during rehearsals, always out of sight from his young twins with wife Amal Clooney. Once performances begin, however, he plans to switch to herbal smokes to channel Murrow’s iconic three-pack-a-day habit.

Despite decades in the spotlight, Clooney confessed he’s feeling the pressure of live theater.

“Are you kidding? I’m doing 11 monologues,” he said. “When you get older, your recall isn’t the same. When I was doing ER, it was 12 pages of medical dialogue. You look at it in the morning and you say, ‘OK, let’s go!’ Now you get older and you’re going, ‘What’s wrong with me? Well, don’t drink any wine tonight.’”

"Good Night, And Good Luck" is playing now.
