The reality star’s estranged husband walked his listeners through the changes that occurred in his relationship with her due to her cancer diagnosis.

Teddi Mellencamp shared that several tumors were discovered in her brain back in February, after which she had surgery to remove them before discovering some more.

In an episode of The Eds podcast released on April 3, Arroyave shared how his estranged wife Mellencamp's brain cancer diagnosis significantly impacted their relationship.

He recounted the moment he received the diagnosis, expressing that his initial thoughts centered around helping Mellencamp feel confident about her prognosis.

Arroyave was also concerned about ensuring their relationship was strong while looking after their children. He emphasized that despite the challenges, caring for his wife comes naturally to him, stating, "no matter what, I will always love Teddi." 

He described his response to the situation as “reflective,” stressing his main focus on supporting Mellencamp so she would not feel alone during such a difficult time.

He also acknowledged her friends and family's vital role in their journey, helping him and Mellencamp cope with the circumstances.

Arroyave has indicated that their separation has led to a renewed connection between him and Mellencamp, largely due to her health struggles. 

They are reportedly focusing on the present moment and taking their relationship one day at a time. Arroyave also prioritized their current situation before addressing other aspects of their relationship.

"The first thing is just making sure that we take care of this first and all that other stuff. We'll see what happens with time. But for right now, it's just more of like, how do we take care of you? And how can we get you back to normal as fast as possible? That other stuff will figure itself out,” he said.

During Mellencamp’s brain surgery in February, the security expert was also active, expressing gratitude on Instagram for the support and well wishes received. He noted that his ex is immensely thankful for the love shown during her ongoing recovery.

Things have seemingly escalated for the former reality star as The Blast shared earlier this month that her cancer reached stage 4. She was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022, which reportedly metastasized to her brain and lungs.

On March 26, Mellencamp shared that she received devastating news. According to her, an emergency MRI revealed four additional small tumors on her brain, marking her cancer as stage 4.

Despite her current situation, she remains positive and committed to battling the disease. On April 2, she connected with her fans through a video on her Instagram Stories, expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support. 

The former TV star acknowledged the mixed emotions she experiences, stating that while some days she feels strong, other days can bring feelings of sadness and loneliness. Mellencamp emphasizes that these feelings are a normal part of coping with stage 4 cancer.

Mellencamp has been transparent with her fans about her ongoing battle with melanoma, recently sharing details of a setback and her treatment journey. 

On April 1, the star underwent both immunotherapy and radiation for the first time, after which she described feeling "so tired and run down." In the face of her difficulties, Mellencamp displays unmatched resilience in her belief to get better.

The star revealed that she had four more tumors after initially believing she had beaten the illness. Throughout the process, that star shared she has learned to listen to her body and continues to hold on to optimism for a healthier future.

Mellencamp also reflected on her aspirations for herself and her children, expressing her hopes for the future. In a separate Instagram Stories post, she shared a picture of herself undergoing treatment along with the caption, "45 mins in here - hopefully saving my life.”

The estranged couple, who share three children, daughters Slate (12) and Dove (5) and son Cruz (10), are currently navigating their relationship in a unique way.

In a recent interview with  Mellencamp, known for her catchphrase "Moms always come back" from her time on "RHOBH," she revealed that she has not used the phrase with her children since returning from the hospital.

She emphasized her desire to be honest with them about her fight, stating, "I don't want to lie to them." Mellencamp and Arroyave have also paused their divorce proceedings. 

Mellencamp noted that her ex-husband has been exceptionally kind and supportive of the kids, easing their situation. They are now living under the same roof: Mellencamp occupies the main area of their home while Arroyave stays in a guest room. 

She described their current arrangement as enjoyable, highlighting that they still share many positive aspects of their marriage without the accompanying issues.
