Russell Brand has been charged with rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault almost two years after an investigation into his actions.
The alleged rape incidents took place between 1999 and 2005 and involved four women who were interviewed in a bombshell documentary into the incidents.
Russell Brand has since denied the rape and assault allegations brought against him, claiming they were all "consensual" and admitting that he once led a "promiscuous" life.
Russell Brand Charged With Rape

According to reports, Brand has finally been charged after an investigation was launched against him for his alleged assault of four women.
The Metropolitan Police released a statement highlighting that the comedian has been charged with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault.
Brand is now set to appear at the Westminster Magistrate court to face his charges on May 2.
Superintendent Andy Furphy, the lead detective in the case, spoke about the latest development: "The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers."
"The Met's investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police," he added.
A breakdown of the charges shows that Brand is accused of raping a woman in 1999 in the Bournemouth area. In 2001, he allegedly indecently assaulted another woman in the Westminster area of London.
The comedian is also accused of orally raping and sexually assaulting a third woman in the Westminster area of London in 2003. A fourth woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the same Westminster area between 2004 and 2005 by Brand.
There Was An Investigation Into 'Historic Sex Offence' Allegations Against The Comedian

In November 2024, it was announced that after a 13-month inquiry, the Met police had recommended that Brand be charged with historic sex offenses based on accusations from multiple women he was involved with at the peak of his Hollywood career.
During the inquiry, the authorities interviewed the actor on different occasions to ascertain details about his involvement with his four accusers.
According to the Daily Mail, the first meet-up was said to have been done under caution on November 16, 2023, with Brand being questioned over three sex offense claims.
The comedian also came in voluntarily for the interview after the negative traction he had received from the accusations.
Brand was invited a second time on December 14, 2023, about six other historic sex offenses. He was then asked to partake in another interview session in January 2024.
Russell Brand Denied The Accusations: 'Is There Another Agenda At Play?'

After the accusations came to light, Brand swiftly released a statement in which he denied assaulting any of the women.
However, the comedian admitted that he had a "very, very promiscuous" past, but all of those sexual interactions during that period were "absolutely always consensual."
Brand stated: "I was always transparent about that. Then, almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent about it now as well. To see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
The actor also claimed at the time that the attacks he is facing share some similarities with other independent news personalities.
He added, "Particularly when we've seen coordinated media attacks before, like with Joe Rogan, when he dared to take a medicine that the mainstream media didn't approve of, and we saw a spate of headlines from media outlets across the world using the same language."
The Comedian Said The Accusations Were 'Painful' And 'Hurtful'

Brand further maintained his innocence during an interview with former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson, which was posted on YouTube.
"Attacks like this, a crisis like this – hurtful as it is to be accused of what I consider to be the most appalling crime – to be accused of this is very painful and very hurtful," Brand told Carlson, per USA Today.
"But I am being shown that there are consequences for the rather foolish way I lived in the past," the actor continued. "Though, of course, again, to reiterate, due to the nature of the world we live in, of course, I deny any allegations of the kind that have been advanced."

Brand's days as a wild, party-loving Hollywood heartthrob are long behind him. The comedian has become more of a YouTube and Rumble personality who dishes out conspiracy theories to his ever-growing audience.
He has also turned to religion, recently revealing that he had become a baptized Christian. In a post on Instagram, the disgraced comic shared a clip of himself taking the plunge in the River Thames.
He then shared his experience with his followers, describing baptism as "incredible" and "profound."
Brand noted that "something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible, overwhelming."
He also admitted that he still faces the realities of life but feels empowered to deal with them better.
The comedian said: "Now of course even though it has been less than 24 hours in the interim period I've already felt like irritation: I've got three children, I've got a job, I've got challenges, I still live in the world. But I feel as though some new resource within me has switched on."
