Kellie filed court documents on March 28, requesting that a judge block a subpoena from her former in-laws, Reed and Sharon Jacobs. The couple filed the subpoena to collect testimony from her and the return of property belonging to her late husband, Kyle.

Kellie argued that the subpoena was not a legitimate court order and, therefore, should not hold her in contempt. She believes the matter should be addressed in her civil petition rather than probate court.

In her motion, Kellie accused Sharon and Reed of trying to bypass legal procedures to gain ownership of the disputed items, asserting that the subpoena was improperly employed as a shortcut.
