O.J. Simpson's estate has sold the bible Kim Kardashian's dad, Robert Kardashian Sr., gifted to the NFL icon for a whooping sum after rejecting her $15,000 offer.

The late controversial footballer's estate sold the bible at an auction alongside many other coveted items.

Robert and Simpson were good friends, and the former represented the NFL player during his double homicide trial. The Bible gift from the attorney to the footballer was a token of their friendship.

Kim Kardashian's hopes of getting hold of her late father's bible gift to Simpson have now been dashed.

On Sunday, TMZ confirmed that the bible was sold at an auction for $80k.

Simpson's estate's special administrator, Malcolm LaVergne, told the outlet that the bible sold at $80,276.

However, LaVergne doesn't know the buyer's identity, though he noted that Simpson's "legacy endures" irrespective of people's feelings about him.

The estate sold other items in addition to the bible, earning an estimated $300k. These included a personally signed and framed picture of Simpson and former POTUS Bill Clinton and a replica of the footballer's 1968 Heisman Trophy.

The photograph sold for $18k, while the trophy replica sold for $42,700.

Earlier in the month, reports revealed that Kim tried to purchase her late dad's bible gift to Simpson for $15k. She also asked if there were any other items that may have belonged to her father.

The bible seemingly holds special meaning to the SKIMS founder as her dad signed it alongside a written note to Simpson dated June 18, 1994, the day after he was arrested and charged with murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson, and her friends, Ronald Goldman.

In the signed note, Robert Sr. told Simpson, "O.J., this book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you."

However, Kim's attempt to buy the bible was turned down because it was already under contract with the court to be auctioned off.

Why Kim Kardashian's Offer Wasn't Accepted

In a chat with PEOPLE Magazine, LaVergne explained why Kim's $15,000 offer to buy the bible was turned down.

He said, "The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money — why would I spend $15,000 in attorney's fees — to sell it to Kim for $15,000?"

He continued, "That's a zero-sum game. That's a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would've been in court getting this approved outside of the auction."

However, he advised the television personality to bid for the book online as she could get a cheaper deal because the leading bid for it then was $9,800.

He noted, "Kim can bid on it online. She may even get it cheaper than the 15 grand, so who knows."

Why Simpson's Estate Is Auctioning His Items

According to LaVergne, Simpson's estate is selling off the football legend's personal items to raise money to repay creditors who have been calling since his death.

After raising some money through the auction, LaVergne revealed his desire to work with Simpson's creditors, including Ronald Goldman's dad, Fred Goldman, who secured a multi-million-dollar judgment against Simpson in a wrongful death lawsuit.

After being acquitted of Nicole and Ronald's deaths in 1995, Simpson faced ongoing legal troubles. In 1996, he lost a civil trial and was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the victims' families, though he evaded payment.

In 2008, he was convicted of armed robbery in Las Vegas and sentenced to 33 years, serving nine before parole in 2017. He lived in Las Vegas until his death from prostate cancer on April 10, 2024, at age 76.

Since announcing her ambition to pursue a legal career inspired by her late dad, Kim has taken major strides to achieve that goal despite facing some obstacles earlier on.

Recently, the mother of four took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE), a key step toward becoming a licensed attorney.

Since discovering Alice Marie Johnson’s case in 2017, Kim has been dedicated to criminal justice reform. She passed the baby bar in 2021 after failing twice.

Kim took the MPRE like any other aspiring lawyer, sitting for the test in Alhambra, California.

While not yet an attorney, she remains committed to advocacy, successfully campaigning for inmates' clemency and legal justice reform.
