Two years before sharing his regrets about Boseman's death, The Blast reported that Jordan had reflected on his relationship with the late actor. He shared one of their tender moments during a 2023 appearance on "The View," saying:

"There was a moment on the press tour — we were backstage, we were in London, and we were getting ready to watch the movie for the first time together. And we looked at each other, and we were like, you know, 'we're connected for the rest of our lives.'"

"I just remember sitting there and having a real connection, a moment with him. Obviously knew nothing at the time. I had no idea, so when things unfolded the way they did, and unfortunately, we lost him, it stuck with me," Jordan recalled.

Boseman fought against the negative racial stereotype, and showrunners adjusted the character based on his complaints. Thanks to his complaints, 16-year-old Jordan rose to fame as Reggie Porter on the soap opera. He recalled never knowing Boseman's impact on the show in 2019, saying:

"I was playing this role not knowing that a lot of the things I was going through were because of what he'd already done for me."
