Meghan Markle recently launched an online storefront featuring curated fashion pieces for people to shop from.
According to experts, this could potentially earn the Duchess of Sussex millions through commission-based sales. Reports have already revealed that several third-party retailer sites crashed shortly after going live due to high demand.
However, while the royal's supporters praised her for capitalizing on her influence, others accused Meghan Markle of "monetizing the monarchy."
Meghan Markle Unveils New Shopping Platform Featuring Curated Fashion Picks

Since her exit from the royal family, Meghan has fully embraced brand partnerships and has now taken things further by launching her online shopping platform.
Sharing a screen-recorded preview of her storefront, she captioned it: "Many of you have asked, so here you go! A little shopping to start the week."
The link directs visitors to the Duchess' ShopMy storefront, where her first curated collection features a $192 [£148] white linen shirt, Heidi Merrick's "Windsor" gown priced at $1384 [£1,068], Saint Laurent sandals costing around $777 [£600] and several other fashion items.
Other featured brands include Heidi Merrick, Reformation, and J Crew. Her selection seemingly leans toward timeless wardrobe staples: linen shirts, crewneck sweaters, sunglasses, and handbags that are all in neutral tones like beige, black, navy, and white.
A disclaimer on her ShopMy website states: "Please note, some products may contain commissionable links," indicating that Meghan likely earns a percentage from each sale.
The Duchess Is Set To Earn Millions From The Online Store

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Financial expert Maddy Alexander-Grout shared that Meghan could earn millions through her newly launched online store.
"She could potentially earn millions from this and is probably earning a commission on every sale she makes," the expert said.
Alexander-Grout explained: "If you take on average how many followers she has (2.6 million) and how much engagement she has, I would imagine based on her following that she will have thousands and thousands of people buying these things and she will be making a fair amount of that."
She estimated Meghan's potential earnings, using an example of a £128 linen shirt: "She is going to make a fair amount based on what the clothes are worth. If she gets say 15% off a shirt that's £128, she will be making £19.20. She will be selling thousands of those and could be making at least £19k from one linen shirt."
Alexander-Grout further noted: "Looking like Meghan and being like Meghan - she's going to make a killing off people."
Meghan Markle's Store Launch Crashes Websites As She's Accused Of 'Monetizing The Monarchy'

Shortly after Meghan's new storefront went live, several third-party retailer websites reportedly crashed as eager fans rushed to purchase the tan-colored Saint Laurent mules she's been spotted wearing multiple times.
However, critics online have accused Meghan of "monetizing the monarchy," with one social media user commenting: "There you have it folks... All she ever dreamed of doing since she got notoriety: cash in like any 2-bit influencer, via affiliate links. The secondhand embarrassment is real."
Another critic labeled her a "grifter," while others questioned whether she has now become a full-time affiliate marketer.
"Are they short on money or something?" one person asked, per the Daily Mail.
The Duchess Also Received Support And Praise For Her Latest Business Move

Amid the criticisms, several netizens voiced their support for the Duchess of Sussex and her new online shop.
One person wrote: "2025 has been so cathartic as a Sussex fan. Seeing Meghan Sussex launch her own ShopMy after almost a decade of other people making money off her style, + the added bonus of getting to laugh at all the shortsighted idiots who 'don't want Meghan in our clothes."
Another added: "For the last 8 years, everyone but Meghan has been making money off her name & her influence. Well, it's about time she makes money off her own name & influence."
