Rosie O'Donnell has weighed in on President Donald Trump's comments about her moving to Ireland following his victory in the November elections.

Trump met Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Washington, where he asked him if he knew who the comedian was before sarcastically saying he's "better off not knowing."

Rosie O'Donnell came forward recently to admit that moving to a new country is "not easy," but said it was the "best" option for her and her family after previously saying she would not live in "Trump's America."

O'Donnell was ridiculed when Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin met with Trump in Washington for St. Patrick's Day earlier this month.

During their meeting, a reporter asked Martin "why in the world" he allowed O'Donnell into the country, prompting Trump to ask: "Did you know you have Rosie O'Donnell? Do you know who she is?"

However, when Martin seemed oblivious to the subject and shook his head, Trump remarked, "You're better off not knowing."

The 63-year-old actress has now hit back at Trump during an appearance on RTE's "Late Late Show" in Ireland, admitting she found it "surreal."

"I felt very troubled that they put the Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) in that position and didn't treat him with the respect that a leader of that kind deserves when he's visiting the White House," she said, per the Daily Mail.

O'Donnell was seemingly embarrassed at Trump's remarks, as she revealed elsewhere on the show that she "wrote the Taoiseach a little note apology to his email" after seeing it.

She said: "I got a note back that they had received it and thanked me. But I just wanted him to know the history and what happened and why [Trump] seems to be out to get me in ways that are startling to most."

O'Donnell and Trump haven't had the best of relationships, as she even went as far as to declare she would "self-deport" because she didn't want to live in "Trump's America."

"The President of the United States has it out for me and has for 20 years," O'Donnell continued, adding that "he sort of uses me as a punchline whenever he feels the need."

Meanwhile, O'Donnell has chalked her years-long feud with Trump to a previous comment she made while moderating "The View."

The TV host moderated the show between 2006-2007 before returning briefly at the start of season 18 in 2014.

Noting that it was her "job to talk about pop culture [and] politics" when she was a member of the Hot Topics table, she explained, "I mentioned his bankruptcies and I mentioned all of the sexual assault charges, and I mentioned that he was not, in fact, the businessman that everyone thinks he is because of the show, 'The Apprentice,' where they sold a bunch of lies to America for over 10 years and half of America believed it."

"And so he was very angry, to say the least, and he hasn't let it go," O'Donnell added. "And he sort of uses me as a punchline whenever he feels the need."

Back in 2006, the comedian said on the program that Trump was "not a self-made man," describing him as a "snake oil salesman" and saying he went bankrupt.

According to People Magazine, Trump released a statement at the time, saying she "will rue the words she said" and that he would "most likely sue her for making those false statements – and it'll be fun."

O'Donnell got candid about her relocation to Ireland, admitting that it wasn't "easy" but it was the "best" decision for her and her family.

The "Tarzan" actress, who relocated with her youngest child, Clay, took to her TikTok account to detail how they've been finding life in their new home.

In the clip, she said she is "proud and impressed" with Clay's resilience following their big move, going on to share that it has also helped improve her mental health.

The actress earlier weighed in on her new life in Dublin before revealing she plans to return to the United States "when it's safe for all citizens to have equal rights."

"It's not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do," she said, per the Daily Mail.

On the benefit of her relocation, she said, "I feel healthier, I'm sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country."

"I was never someone who thought I would move to another country. That's what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are," she said.

O'Donnell continued, "It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know."
