Miley Cyrus Stuns Fans With Bold New Look Ahead Of Upcoming Album

Miley Cyrus has come a long way since her Disney Channel days.

She first shot to fame in 2006 as the star of "Hannah Montana," a hit series that catapulted her into global stardom as both an actress and a pop sensation. As the fictional teen with a double life, Cyrus became a household name, selling out tours, topping charts, and amassing a devoted fanbase.

But even after leaving her alter ego behind, Miley Cyrus continued to evolve, pushing boundaries musically, stylistically, and personally, cementing her status as one of pop culture’s most unpredictable and influential figures.

Now, the 32-year-old is ushering in a new era of music and style with the reveal of the striking cover art for her upcoming ninth studio album, "Something Beautiful," set for release on May 30, 2025, via Columbia Records.

In the newly released image, Cyrus stuns in what appears to be a surreal, ice-covered look. But in reality, she’s draped in vintage 1997 Thierry Mugler couture, captured through the lens of acclaimed fashion photographer Glen Luchford.

The bold visual was unveiled on social media alongside the official announcement of "Something Beautiful," which will feature 13 original tracks and is executive produced by Cyrus and Grammy-winning producer Shawn Everett.

Over the past week, the "Flowers" hitmaker has been teasing the album through cryptic posts and aesthetic previews, stirring anticipation among fans worldwide.

This marks Cyrus’ first album release since "Endless Summer Vacation" in March 2023, the same project that launched "Flowers," her most commercially successful single to date.

The empowering anthem spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, broke streaming records across platforms, and scored Cyrus her first Grammy wins for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

In the "Flowers" video, Miley famously struts through the estate in black lingerie, showers under a cascading waterfall, and dances alone, a visual metaphor of independence and reinvention that now feels fitting as she launches "Something Beautiful."

After more than 20 years in the music industry, Miley Cyrus finally got her flowers, literally and figuratively.

In a candid interview with W Magazine in June 2024, the pop icon opened up about her long-overdue recognition at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where her smash hit “Flowers” earned her first-ever Grammy wins for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

“No shade, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time actually being taken seriously at the Grammys?” Cyrus said bluntly. “I’ve had a hard time figuring out what the measurement is there because if we want to talk stats and numbers, then where the f-ck was I? And if you want to talk, like, impact on culture, then where the f-ck was I? This is not about arrogance. I am proud of myself.”

Cyrus has been a cultural force since her breakout role as "Hannah Montana" in 2006 and has released eight studio albums over the course of her career.

Despite massive commercial success and widespread cultural impact, she had previously only received two Grammy nominations: once in 2015 for "Bangerz" (Best Pop Vocal Album) and again in 2022 for her contribution to "Montero" by Lil Nas X.

But even amid her triumphs, "Flowers" has found itself at the center of controversy.

The singer is currently embroiled in a copyright lawsuit filed by Tempo Music Investments, which alleges that "Flowers" “intentionally copied” elements of Bruno Mars’ 2013 hit "When I Was Your Man." The suit points to similarities in the lyrics and structure of the two choruses, particularly in the themes of regret and self-love.

Tempo, which owns a stake in the publishing rights to "When I Was Your Man" through co-writer Phillip Lawrence’s catalog, argues that "Flowers" borrows heavily from the original hit.

Miley’s legal team attempted to dismiss the case, asserting that the plaintiff lacked the “exclusive rights” required to sue. However, a judge recently rejected that argument, citing a misunderstanding of the legal definition of “exclusive rights.”

The ruling allowed the case to move forward, with Tempo, Gregory Hein, and Michael Pollack named as plaintiffs. While Bruno Mars is credited on the original track, he is not involved in the litigation.

"Something Beautiful" is set for release on May 30, 2025.
