'Bachelorette' Alum Jason Tartick Reveals Reason For Being Hospitalized

Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tartick is opening up about a harrowing health scare that left him crawling into the hospital in excruciating pain, and reflecting on life, love, and loss in the process.

On the March 24 episode of his "Trading Secrets" podcast, Jason Tatrick revealed he was forced to seek emergency medical attention after experiencing debilitating back pain, which he believes was triggered while lifting something during a recent RV trip.

“Dude, I don’t know what the hell’s going on with me,” Tartick said. “I’m getting f-cking old, man, washed up. Weirdest thing... I know I hurt it lifting and something set it off. And bro, that pain, that Monday night, I have never, ever, I hope to never feel pain like that for that long ever again.”

The former "Bachelorette" contestant said he ended up at the hospital “crawling on all fours,” where he was given steroids to manage the pain, and he’s still on them. He’s now awaiting an MRI to determine whether he’s dealing with a herniated or bulging disc.

“Right now, knees to my toes, it’s, like, still tingly, which is crazy,” he shared. “Not to sound douchey, but like two, three weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I was squatting probably like 295 pounds. And right now, I can’t do a squat on my foot. I can’t do a one legged squat, I fall. It’s like I had a stroke or something.”

Tartick added that long hours spent driving the RV “didn’t help” his condition, and he’s now bracing himself for the hospital bill, which he says he’ll eventually share with listeners in true "Trading Secrets" fashion, as the podcast revolves around money, careers, and financial transparency.

Currently laying low in Nashville as he recovers, Tartick reflected on the quiet moments that have helped him reconnect with himself, especially following his recent breakup from influencer Kat Stickler.

“I’m in Nashville all this week and it’s been really good to be here because I’m starting to get connected to myself a little bit more without so many distractions,” he said. “I feel like slowly but surely, some really exciting chapters and next steps are coming.”

But even with the peace of healing, he admitted to experiencing emotional lows, especially on Sundays.

“I’m enjoying this whole single life. I’m enjoying it. It’s great, man. There are things about it I’m absolutely loving,” Tartick said. “But there are moments... I do feel like Sundays are definitely a day where, like, I’m missing that person in my life, you know what I’m saying? Sundays are my all time, 100 percent, peak of feels.”

Tartick and Stickler called it quits in early 2024 after six months of dating. In January, he opened up about the split on his podcast, calling it “so abrupt” and “so unexpected.”

“Everyone goes through breakups,” he said at the time. “This is why you date. If you have a sudden change of heart, she’s not to blame for that. That’s OK.”

He also set the record straight on speculation surrounding their breakup. “It’s really no one’s business what happened, but I will say, I’ve just seen every rumor out there and none of them are accurate. You put a gun to my head and I would never, ever be disloyal to her. I have a ton of respect and care for her.”

Jason Tartick first gained national attention in 2018 when he appeared on Season 14 of "The Bachelorette," starring Becca Kufrin.

Though he was eliminated in Week 9 and didn't receive the final rose, his polished demeanor, down-to-earth personality, and good looks quickly made him a fan favorite. His calm confidence and emotional maturity stood out in a highly competitive season, laying the foundation for his ongoing popularity within Bachelor Nation.

The two got engaged in 2021, though they ultimately split in 2023.
