Jenny Slate is staying tight-lipped about the legal battle surrounding "It Ends With Us."
Slate’s hesitation to address the lawsuit contrasts with her outspoken support for Blake Lively late last year when the "Gossip Girl" alum filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni with the California Civil Rights Department.
Jenny Slate Shuts Down Questions About 'It Ends With Us' Lawsuit: ‘I Don’t Have Anything to Say’

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Slate, who portrayed Allysa in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, was asked how the controversy surrounding the project compared to her experience filming her latest movie, "Dying for Sex."
“I don’t have anything to say about that,” the actress responded in the interview published Thursday. “Everything is its own thing. I poured my heart into this work, and every minute of 'Dying for Sex' was important to me, and I just want to talk about that.”
When pressed on how she plans to navigate red carpet appearances without addressing the legal battle between "It Ends With Us" director Justin Baldoni and lead actress Blake Lively, Slate doubled down.
“Anyone can ask anything, but my only responsibility is to speak about the work I’m there to promote,” she said. “It was so important to me to get this job, so why would I spend time talking about anything but that?”
Slate’s Silence Raises Eyebrows After Previously Supporting Blake Lively

Slate’s reluctance to discuss the lawsuit marks a shift from her stance late last year when she publicly supported Lively after the "Gossip Girl" alum filed a complaint against Baldoni with the California Civil Rights Department.
“As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation,” Slate told "Today" in December 2024. “Blake is a leader, loyal friend, and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.”
At the time, Slate condemned what she called a “terribly dark, disturbing, and wholly threatening” attack on Lively, adding, “I commend my friend, I admire her bravery, and I stand by her side.”
Lively later filed a lawsuit against Baldoni accusing him of sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress. Baldoni, in turn, launched a $400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane, claiming defamation, extortion, and fraud.
Report Claims Jenny Slate Filed HR Complaint Against 'It Ends With Us' Producer Amid Legal Battle

Amid the legal drama, The Hollywood Reporter published a report suggesting that Slate had also filed an HR complaint against Baldoni’s co-producer, Jamey Heath.
According to the outlet, Slate’s complaint to Sony, the distributor of "It Ends With Us," stemmed from a dispute over her housing arrangements while filming in New York. The "Landline" actress, who was living in the city with her child, allegedly had a heated exchange with Heath, during which he used inappropriate language regarding her role as a mother.
While Heath has not publicly responded to the claims, sources previously told THR that he had a “different understanding” of the interaction and felt that “any kind gesture” from his production company, Wayfarer Studios, was being “weaponized” against them.
Ryan Reynolds Fights To Dismiss Justin Baldoni Lawsuit As Attorney Alleges Hollywood Blacklisting Effort

With the legal battle between Lively and Baldoni continuing to escalate, Reynolds’ attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss Baldoni’s lawsuit against him with prejudice, which would bar Baldoni from refiling the case in the future. But Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, insists that Reynolds played a crucial role in the controversy and should be held accountable.
However, Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, pushed back, telling TMZ, "Mr. Reynolds’ exploitation of his enormous power in Hollywood continues, this time arrogantly asking to be dismissed from the case despite his publicly documented involvement extending far beyond just being a 'supportive spouse."
Freedman alleges that Reynolds played a key role in efforts to derail Baldoni’s career, accusing the "Deadpool" star of participating in defamation, pressuring WME to sever ties with Baldoni, and working to blacklist him in the industry.
Blake Lively And Justin Baldoni’s Explosive Legal Battle Heads To Trial In 2026

The contentious legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has reportedly taken a significant emotional toll on both Lively and Reynolds.
According to TMZ, a source close to the couple shared that Lively is feeling "emotionally zapped" as the lawsuits continue to unfold, describing the ordeal as deeply exhausting for both her and Reynolds. The ongoing legal dispute has allegedly caused them "severe anguish" as they navigate the high-profile case.
The case is set to go to trial in March 2026.
