Tia Jones, the woman who accused Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy of assault in March 2025, has been granted a protective order.

Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday, March 7, for allegedly choking Jones during a heated argument in Texas. Following his arrest, the NFL star was charged with assault on a family or household member in which their breath was impeded before the county's District Attorney said they wouldn't move forward with the case. Now, Jones has been awarded protection until a legal hearing occurs on April 1.

Following Worthy's arrest in March, the NFL star, who was the best-performing wide receiver on the Chiefs' roster during the 2024-2025 season, was held in the Willamson County jail in Georgetown, Texas, without bail until he could see a judge.

According to multiple reports, however, the DA's office declined to move forward with the case after speaking with a third-party witness. Worthy's lawyers confirmed the decision before sharing that they were working with law enforcement regarding the situation.

Days later, Worthy seemingly addressed his run-in with the law in his Instagram Stories with a selfie of him staring blankly into the camera. "New beginnings," he wrote.

Jones Claims Xavier Worthy Has Abused Her Five Times Throughout The Past Year

According to a report from TMZ, Jones, who became engaged to Worthy in July 2024, claimed in a new legal filing that the 21-year-old has allegedly physically abused her five times throughout the last year.

In the documents, the track star detailed the first incident, which she stated occurred in October 2024 over an argument the pair had about Worthy's mother. Jones alleged that the NFL player had "pushed me to the ground with two hands" before saying that he apologized directly afterward.

Weeks later, during the holiday season, Jones said Worthy allegedly slammed her on a bed while choking her after arguing about infidelity. "He knew about my history of abuse in past relationships," she said, "so I was horrified that he would do that. I told him to never do that again."

Jones continued detailing the alleged moments of abuse with Worthy and shared about what led to his March 7th arrest. According to her, things took a turn for the worse because she wasn't giving the NFL player enough attention.

After calling him a "b-tch," Jones said the Chiefs' offensive player lifted her from the ground before slamming her against the home's walls. She then claimed he grabbed her "by my throat" and threw "me on the floor."

Elsewhere in the filing, Jones, 24, accused Worthy of throwing keys at her head. "Before I could turn around," she stated, "Xavier hit me upside my head and pushed me to the ground."

Jones 'Felt' Worthy Was Going To Kill Her

Jones said that after being pushed to the ground, Worthy allegedly carried her to the garage door and grabbed "my neck so tight I was making choking sounds."

"I felt like I was going to die," she said.

Worthy allegedly "grabbed the part of my throat that I swallow with like he was trying to rip it out" before placing his "right knee on my throat."

"I could not breathe," she claimed. "It was on there for more than 10 seconds."

Worthy's lawyers defended the player in a statement to Pro Football Talk and called Jones' statements "false allegations."

"Mr. Worthy maintains his innocence and stands by the conclusions of the District Attorney after law enforcement’s review of Ms. Jones’ unfounded allegations," they said.
