Xavier Worthy has one less problem to worry about after his recent run-in with the law.

The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver has reportedly been allowed to walk home a free man after he was picked up for alleged domestic violence last Friday.

Xavier Worthy was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. During the 2024-2025 season, he made a significant impact as a rookie, leading all wide receivers on the team with 59 receptions, totaling 638 receiving yards, and scoring six touchdowns.

The District Attorney in Williamson County, Texas, has decided to decline the case against Worthy following further investigation by the Sheriff's Office and discussions with a third-party witness.

His attorney confirmed this decision and shared that the athlete and his legal team fully cooperated with law enforcement regarding the situation.

Worthy was arrested on Friday night on suspicion of domestic violence, specifically for allegedly assaulting a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation, which suggested the act of choking.

As noted by TMZ, the details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the initial charge was categorized as a third-degree felony.

The footballer took to his social media to react to the news of his freedom and the whole weekend episode. He pulled up on X (formerly Twitter) with two praying emojis in his post. The post has gained over 6k likes since he posted it this afternoon.

Worthy also took to Instagram to express his thoughts, sharing a post on his story with the simple yet profound words, "New beginnings." 

Accompanying this message was an image of him with a freshly buzzed haircut, marking a significant change as he parted ways with the dreadlocks he had sported during his collegiate years and his first season in the NFL.

The NFL Player Was Previously Held Without Bail Following His Arrest

As of Saturday, March 8, The Blast shared that the NFL star remained in custody without bail, and further information regarding the circumstances of his arrest has not been disclosed.

Law enforcement announced that the football player would remain in the Williamson County jail in Georgetown, Texas, without bail until he had a chance to appear before a judge. 

During Super Bowl LIX, he showcased his talent with 8 receptions, totaling 157 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns, despite his team's disappointing 22–40 defeat. Additionally, Worthy had an impressive freshman year at Texas, where he set multiple records for freshman performance in the school's history. records.

The NFL Reacted To The News Of Xavier Worthy's Friday Arrest

The rave of Worthy's arrest reached the official quarters as  NFL Media Insider Tom Pelissero, who has extensive experience covering the league, provided an update regarding Worthy's recent arrest. 

He shared a statement from the NFL indicating that they are aware of the situation and are in communication with the Kansas City Chiefs.

"We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the [Kansas City Chiefs]," Pelissero post read on X. The professional football player holds the 40-yard dash record at the 2024 NFL Combine with 4.21 seconds.
