DIY Guru Jenn Todryk Reveals Creative Ways To Use Scotch Tape At Home

In an exclusive interview with The Blast, she shared, "I think it’s something I was born with. You can ask my mom. I re-did my room four times growing up. I remember when I was 15, I re-did my room with neon hot pink walls and zebra print borders. My mom was great about letting me express myself in my own space."

Now, as a mom herself, Todryk encourages her own children to embrace their design ideas. "Berkeley, my ten-year-old, really wants different wallpaper" the HGTV star added. "She asks, ‘Mom, I really want to redo my space,’ so I feel like we’re going to have another mini renovation going on shortly in the Todryk household!"

When it comes to tackling DIY projects, Todryk advises starting with simple changes that have a big impact.

“The introductory DIY for your home is always paint,” she said. “Everyone thinks painting is going to be fun and quick, and if you’re doing it correctly, with solid sharp lines by taping it off to where you don’t have drips, it’s actually more tedious than you would think.”

“But, you really can’t mess up a painting project, you can always fix it!” she emphasized. “A very easy switch is updating the hardware on your cabinets. If you wanted to save money on tiles, you could also add a backsplash."

The HGTV star went on, "You can change out lighting on your own, too! I recommend using an electrician, but there are videos of how to do everything in your home by yourself. So, start with hardware, painting, and then picking out lighting.”
