Chelsea Freeman Reveals Her Son Has Been Diagnosed With Guillain-Barré Syndrome

In an emotional Instagram post on August 1, Chelsea revealed that Max had “rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis” but that their family was able to get him to the hospital in time to “reinforce his lungs.”

She described the ordeal as some of the “hardest and scariest days” for their family. Thankfully, Max was eventually extubated and taken off the ventilator, showing signs of improvement.

How Is Max Freeman Doing Now?

Months later, Chelsea provided an encouraging update on Max’s condition.

“Max is doing great. He's still in physical therapy twice a week. It'll be a 12-month recovery, so he's on track with that," she shared with The Blast when speaking about her new partnership with OFF! "But, I mean, he's playing outside, he's running, he's skipping, so he's doing really, really well."

The update is a huge relief for fans and supporters who had been following Max’s journey and keeping the Freeman family in their thoughts and prayers. As Max continues his recovery, the Freeman family remains grateful for the love and prayers they have received.

With continued physical therapy and the unwavering support of his family, Max is well on his way to a full recovery.

To help spread the message, OFF! has teamed up with Chelsea Freeman, entrepreneur, mom of three boys, and wife of MLB star Freddie Freeman.

“I heard this stat that said that 56 percent of parents said that their kids would choose an extra hour of screen time over an extra hour of playing outside. So that’s something I’ve been focusing on,” the 33-year-old told The Blast.

Chelsea knows firsthand the challenges of getting kids outside, whether it’s negotiating time away from screens or convincing them to wear bug spray. She is enthusiastic about sharing her family's experiences and tips for making outdoor time enjoyable and safe.

“Raising three boys, I've learned that compromises come with the territory for parents looking for ways to get the family outside,” Chelsea told The Blast. “Sports like Little League can help remove some of those barriers. When my oldest son started playing Little League, getting outside was no longer a battle. It became something that they looked forward to, and we looked forward to as a family.”
