Kim Kardashian's update comes two years after Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison. He was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 and remains incarcerated at California Correctional Institution.

The reality TV star promoted her new swimwear line on Instagram, dropping a video from her Bahamas photoshoot. The clip captured her rocking various pieces from her SKIMS Swim brand, including animal print designs and a blue two-piece that showcased her voluptuous figure.
While posing on the beach with the ocean waves crashing behind her, Kim teased fans by running her hands over her body or twisting and turning seductively. She did these provocative actions to the tune of Lanez's "The Color Violet" song.
Although she did not mention his name or promote his case, Kim's post had many clamoring for Lanez's freedom in the comments. "#FreeTory" became an anthem, while others supported the incarcerated rapper by referencing his One Umbrella label with the umbrella with a raindrop emoji.
The 'Talk To Me' Rapper Is Grateful For The Skims Founder's Post

Prison hasn't stopped Lanez from keeping up with what is happening outside his cell walls. His attorney, Ceasar McDowell, revealed he was aware of Kim's post and shared the rapper's reaction with sources.
The legal rep noted he spoke to Lanez over the phone on Wednesday, March 5, claiming the viral "#FreeTory" hashtag in Kim's comments made him happy. McDowell added that his client respected the TV personality for being someone would could "appreciate the artistry without judging the artist."
McDowell shared that Lanez's love for the KarJenner clan started two years ago when Kim's sister, Kylie Jenner, used his music. In June 2023, she posted a video of herself lip-syncing to one of his hits amid his legal drama with Megan Thee Stallion, per TMZ.
The One Umbrella Founder Receives Support From Another Prominent Public Figure

While Kim's music choice indirectly supported Lanez's freedom, Fox News political analyst and author Gianno Caldwell boldly showcased his love for the rapper. The "Taken For Granted" writer shared his thoughts with his followers on his Instagram Story, declaring:
"@torylanez is innocent. He should be freed immediately."
Caldwell's post caught Lanez's attention, and he showed his appreciation by reposting his words on his Instagram Story. The rapper has been adamant about his innocence in the shooting drama, with The Blast reporting he made waves last December following Megan's restraining order.
The alleged victim accused Lanez of harassing her from prison through social media and third parties. She claimed he used a blogger named Milagro Gramz to "bully, harass, and further victimize" her. However, the incarcerated entertainer denied the allegations.
Tory Lanez Slams Megan Thee Stallion's Restraining Order

Lanez addressed Megan's restraining order allegations in court documents filed on December 24, 2024. He stressed that he had "zero direct contact" with the female rapper and accused her of weaponizing the justice system to restrict free speech and opinions.
"Rather than rebut the commentary or debate the issues raised by Defendant's comments so people can make up their own minds, Plaintiff has succumbed to the current trend of using the legal system in an attempt to cancel those opinions she disagrees with," Lanez's argument read in part.
The drama between the rappers began in 2020 after Lanez allegedly shot Megan's foot. He was convicted on three felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Kim Kardashian Might Quit Reality TV To Become A Full-Time Attorney

Before indirectly sparking cries for Lanez's release, Kim has been vocal about helping inmates achieve their freedom and pushing for prison reform. The Blast reported that she once admitted she would not mind dropping reality TV to pursue a career in law.
Kim addressed her future in criminal justice reform during the 2023 TIME 100 Summit. When asked if she could envision a life without being in the spotlight, she declared, "I would be just as happy being an attorney full-time." The socialite continued:
"The journey just really opened up my eyes so much. It gets overwhelming because there's so much to be done ... I brought my sister Khloé [Kardashian] to a prison for the first time last week, and that was really eye-opening for her."
Could Kim Kardashian's use of Tory Lanez's song be a part of her goal to reform the criminal justice system?
