Amber Heard Granted Access To Records Involving Johnny Depp's Drug And Alcohol Abuse

Amber Heard was just given access to information involving Johnny Depp's drug and alcohol use, after the judge in the couple's ongoing lawsuit granted her motion seeking the records.

Lawyers for both sides were just in a Virginia courtroom, arguing over the subject and it's relevance to the case.

Heard has said in her filings, that Johnny Depp abused drugs and alcohol during their relationship, and he would become extremely violent when he was drunk or high.

The actress is seeking information proving the theory, part of the reason she was the victim of domestic violence was Johnny's out of control addiction. The information and records will proof of rehab stints, medical records, and the right to question him during a deposition about his substance abuse.

As we reported, one of the medical records will include the night Johnny was hospitalized after nearly cutting the tip of his finger off. At the time, Amber claimed Johnny had taken so much of the drug Ecstasy he nearly cut his finger off, dipped the bloody finger in black paint, and used it to write negative messages on the walls of the couple's home.

Johnny claimed Amber was the violent one, who broke a bottle of alcohol and as a result, his finger ended up nearly amputated.

Roberta Kaplan tells The Blast, “We are very pleased that the Court granted our motion to compel in full. Mr. Depp’s position on discovery, in this case, has been nonsensical, as if he were the one being sued. But it is Mr. Depp who started this lawsuit on the theory that Ms. Heard somehow made up all the abuse that forced her to obtain a restraining order against Mr. Depp back in 2016. Now that the facts in his own lawsuit are making him uncomfortable, Mr. Depp wants to hide evidence commonly understood to be connected to incidents of domestic violence: his decades-long abuse of drugs and alcohol, his past history of violence, and medical records showing among other things the laundry list of prescription medications he takes daily, and injuries from his drug-induced rages. But that is not how litigation works. Mr. Depp started this fight. Ms. Heard intends to finish it by proving, if necessary, the truth of what really happened.”

The Blast

The Blast obtained a photo from the hospital stay where Amber allegedly burned Depp's face with a cigarette.

In the hearing, Amber's legal team argued the importance of gathering the information and the judge agreed, pointing out the fact that the jury wouldn't necessarily see any of it if the case goes to trial.

Heard's team included 'Time's Up' attorney Roberta Kaplan.

Adam Waldman, Depp's attorney said in a statement, "#MeToo spokesperson Amber Heard, who has not presented a single witness, shred of evidence nor uttered a word to support her abuse hoax since she was sued for it last March, seeks instead to simply smear Mr. Depp. Since she can’t explain the inexplicable – the huge chorus of eyewitnesses, photographs, video surveillance footage, her own assault arrest history and previously sworn admissions of violence against Mr. Depp."

He continued, "Ms. Heard and her #Timesup legal team don’t waste any time trying to prove their hoax case. Instead, they seek only to shame Mr. Depp for his public addiction problems from which he already survived painful recovery."

The Blast

We broke the story Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard claiming her allegations in a Washington Post op-ed about him abusing her was untrue.

Amber said in her response, Johnny was abusive for their entire marriage, becoming violent towards her on several occasions.

The case is ongoing, but recently the ex-couple has gone back and forth about sitting for depositions.

Depp's attorney tells us, "Ms. Heard already canceled her own deposition and all others the moment she realized the public would see them. What real abuse victim would run away from the chance to tell his or her story? Mr. Depp is ready to sit for his deposition today, or any day. A chair, a court reporter, a video camera and our questions continue to wait for Ms. Heard and her confederates Elon Musk and James Franco. Witnesses were willing to lie to support Ms. Heard’s fraud years ago – where are they now? "

Heard's lawyer denies the deposition was canceled and says, “It is misleading and inaccurate to say that Ms. Heard canceled her deposition. Counsel for both parties have repeatedly agreed to schedule depositions, including depositions of Ms. Heard and Mr. Depp, after documents have been produced, which following today’s order the parties expect to be by November 15. Mr. Depp’s lawyers have agreed that is the only sensible way to proceed.”

It appears the two sides won't be settling the case any time soon, so it will go to trial sometime next year.
