Olivia Wilde Leaves Little To The Imagination In Daring Sheer Gown At Vanity Fair Oscars Party

40-year-old actress Olivia Wilde made a bold fashion statement at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2025, stepping onto the red carpet in a completely see-through white gown by Chloé.

Olivia Wilde opted for a playful twist on the barely-there trend, pairing the sheer gown with coordinating briefs and forgoing a top entirely.

The daring ensemble, from the French fashion house’s spring 2025 collection, turned heads with its boho-chic vibe, featuring delicate embroidery, a ruffled eyelet neckline, and a flowing hem.

She completed the look with a gold seashell-shaped bag and a silver pendant necklace, while her hair cascaded in loose waves complemented by a smoky eye and nude lipstick.

Wilde’s fearless approach to fashion has become her signature. Over the years, she has made risqué, skin-baring styles a staple both on and off the red carpet.

Following her split from ex-boyfriend and "Don’t Worry Darling" co-star Harry Styles in 2022, Wilde showed up at the People’s Choice Awards in a sheer lace Dior dress that showcased her toned physique. The gown, which featured a chunky belt, prompted Wilde to playfully write on Instagram Stories, “Got kind of dressed for @peopleschoice.”

The Academy Museum Gala that same year saw Wilde in yet another sheer look, but this time an Alexandre Vauthier gown adorned with tiny crystals. True to form, she wore the ensemble without a bra, proving her penchant for pushing fashion boundaries.

Wilde’s fashion choices also made waves in her 2022 Elle cover shoot, where she posed in an embellished Gucci top that only covered one side, leaving the other bare save for a silver heart-shaped pasty.

During her interview, she opened up about the negative press surrounding "Don't Worry Darling," telling the magazine, “It is shocking to see so many untruths about yourself traded as fact."

"Florence [Pugh] had a really wise comment that we didn’t sign up for a reality show," she added. "And I love that she put it that way, because it’s as though the general public feels that if you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves. No, that’s actually not part of the job description. Never was.”

The 35-year-old actress and filmmaker recently opened up about her go-to casual look in a candid interview with Beanie Feldstein for InStyle.

During the 2020 interview, Feldstein, who starred in Wilde’s directorial debut "Booksmart," couldn’t help but comment on Wilde’s love for low-rise jeans. “I have to say the most surprising thing I’ve learned about you is that you love a low-rise jean. It’s something that I don’t quite understand because I want the top of my jeans to touch my bra strap,” Feldstein joked.

Wilde responded with humor, saying, “I’m still pretending to be a teenager from the early aughts.” She elaborated, “My most comfortable state is when I’m wearing low-rise jeans, sneakers, and a sweatshirt. In that, I am unstoppable. And if I’m in a high-waist jean, I can’t let my gut expand.”

She even compared her laid-back style to the polished look of director Paul Feig, who often wears full suits on set.

“When I see pictures of people like Paul Feig directing in full-on outfits, I’m like, ‘How?’” Wilde quipped.

When it comes to red carpet events, Wilde credits her stylist, Karla Welch, for helping her create chic and powerful looks.

“My stylist, Karla Welch, is one of my best friends. She knows I love a strong shoulder and anything that makes me feel powerful,” Wilde shared. “That doesn’t mean I don’t love a flowy frock here and there, but you learn what makes you feel like your best self.”

The interview also took a nostalgic turn as Feldstein reminded Wilde of her early days in Los Angeles. “When you moved to L.A., you used to wear yellow turtlenecks to pool parties, and that’s why my character, Molly, wears one in the opening of 'Booksmart,'” Feldstein said.

“That’s right,” Wilde laughed. “I’d wear wool turtlenecks. It didn’t matter how hot it was.”
