Alec Baldwin Labeled 'Tone Deaf' For Saying Felicity Huffman Doesn't Deserve Prison Time

Alec Baldwin is eating his words after defending Felicity Huffman by saying she doesn't deserve prison time for her involvement with the college bribery scandal.

The "SNL" star shared his opinion on Huffman's 14 day prison sentence via Twitter on Wednesday and immediately got backlash claiming he was "tone deaf" and "privileged."

The day after Huffman checked into the swanky Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, her dear friend tweeted, "I don't think anyone involved in the college fraud cases should go to prison."

Baldwin was very clear that instead of jail time, the "Desperate Housewives" actress should have received "community service" and "fines."

He ended his tweet stating his heart goes out to "Felicity, Bill Macy and their family."

Instantly followers started responding and Alec was quick to hit back, although he made sure never to change his opinion about Huffman not deserving prison.

"This opinion seems tone deaf," one person wrote. "If they can afford hundreds of thousands of $$ to get their kids in, how will a 'fine' be a deterrent? Even the current risk of jail WASN't."

Still arguing "community service is better," Alec responded, "The demonization of wealth in this country is mind blowing."

When someone stated, "White collar crime is still a crime" and gave an example of a black woman getting 5 years in prison for unknowingly voting as a felon, Baldwin had something to say.

"The woman you refer to should not have gone to prison either," he replied. "Are you suggesting that Huffman's case is a form of reparation?"

Another follower responded, "Said the man who avoided jail time for punching a photographer."

That's when Baldwin stood up and stated, "Let me educate you here."

He denied the incident and said, "Video footage from every angle proved that you are incorrect and that no one punched anyone."

As The Blast reported, Huffman headed to prison to serve her two-week sentence yesterday.

The actress pled guilty to paying $15,000 to a fake charity that helped her daughter's SAT score for college.

Besides her prison sentence, Huffman will be on one year of supervised release and will also have to pay a fine of $30,000.

After finishing her sentence, she's also required to complete 250 hours of community service.
