While in Dubai for a charity performance, Rexha went live on Instagram to chat with fans. As she read through viewer comments, she came across one particularly cruel remark, "You look like Marilyn Monroe after she ate Lizzo."
"Honestly, who cares?" she said in response. "That's a f-ckin' hater, like, who's bored with their life."
Bebe Rexha Addresses The Situation Directly

The moment quickly spread across social media, prompting Rexha to directly address the situation. In a video posted to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, February 27, she reassured fans that she’s standing strong.
"I just got back from Dubai. I did an amazing charity event. It was so beautiful," she began, explaining that she hadn’t gone live in a while. However, after her return, friends told her about the viral clip, so she checked it out.
"You guys were very nice to me and supportive of me. But I want to say a couple of things," Rexha continued.
"Number one, I am unbothered. Number two, I'm very aware of everything. I know I gained weight. I know that I've been through a lot. I know that people know my songs but don't know me, and I haven't gotten the recognition I've deserved."
Bebe Uses The Hate As A Source Of Strength

Rather than letting the criticism bring her down, the Grammy-nominated artist sees it as a source of strength.
"But instead of letting that all break me down, it's actually made me feel more powerful," she declared. "I've been working on new music, and I've been putting it into my music."
She wrapped up the video with a heartfelt message to her supporters, ensuring them that she’s in a great place mentally.
"I promise you I feel stronger than ever," she said. "And I love you."
During an appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" in May 2023, the singer revealed her diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects many women worldwide.
She shared that one of the symptoms she experienced was rapid weight gain, stating, “I literally jumped, like, 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more.” This disclosure sheds light on the personal health challenges contributing to her weight fluctuations.

Rexha has been open about her self-acceptance journey. In a May 2024 interview with PEOPLE, she spoke about feeling "confident" and "comfortable" as she entered a "new chapter" of music.
"I went through a breakup and I think taking a break for me would've been too much," she said at the time. "I just kind of threw myself into music because it's the only thing that really helps me."
"I've gone through so much in the past X amount of years that people don't know about, and I feel like I finally have now come to peace with a lot of things. I finally feel excited and alive," she shared at the time.
She also discussed the role of therapy in helping her move forward, particularly following a breakup. Additionally, she’s been prioritizing her well-being.
Bebe Rexha Embraces Self-Love And Dance Roots: 'You Feel So Much Sexier And Better When Clothes Fit Better'

"I've been working out a lot and trying to do things that are better for me, things that make me happy," she revealed. "You feel so much sexier and better when clothes fit better, and you just feel happier."
For the Grammy-nominated singer, dance music has always been in her DNA. Growing up in Staten Island, she was surrounded by beats, thanks to her uncle, who DJed freestyle tracks like Debbie Deb’s "When I Hear Music" at family gatherings. This early exposure has influenced her latest sound, which she describes as a fusion of "techno, house, [and] U.K. garage."
Despite the negativity she’s faced, Rexha continues to embrace her journey, and she’s making it clear that she won’t let critics define her.
