Rihanna's "sellout" Super Bowl comment was made prior to Jay-Z partnering with the National Football League.
A source close to the situation tells The Blast, the "Anti" singer's Vogue interview was in August, days before Jay inked anything with the NFL and she had "no idea" negotiations were even taking place.

It's unclear if RiRi's thoughts on the situation have changed now that she knows Jay-Z is involved.
Rihanna graces the Vogue pages in the upcoming November issue. In it, she slammed the NFL and stated she turned down their halftime offer to support Colin Kaepernick's movement.
“I couldn’t dare do that,” she stated at the time. “For what? Who gains from that? Not my people."

Rihanna also stated "I just couldn’t be a sellout" or "an enabler," seemingly calling J Lo and Shakira both.
"There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way," she continued.
It was revealed last month that J Lo and Shakira would co-headline the February 7, 2019 show.
Interestingly enough, Rihanna is signed to Roc Nation and Jay-Z announced the deal mid-August.

As The Blast reported, HOVA and Roc Nation teamed up with the NFL to "lead the league’s endeavors in music and entertainment.”
The legendary rapper claimed he spoke with Kaepernick before signing his John Hancock, but the former NFL star's camp said that simply wasn't true.
Kaepernick even took aim at Jay-Z following the NFL news.

Rihanna's Vogue interview didn't stop after speaking up about the NFL.
She also called Donald Trump "the most mentally ill human being in America right now" and awkwardly addressed those pregnancy rumors.
PS -- if she wanted fans to believe she's not pregnant, she failed miserably.
