Legal attorney Tony Buzbee has responded to reports that he is not allowed to practice law in the Southern New York District.
Buzbee, who has filed multiple lawsuits against incarcerated music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs in the district, shut down the reports and provided evidence that he can practice in New York.
The recent developments surrounding the lawyer comes over a week after he dropped the lawsuit against Diddy and Jay-Z, in which the woman he represented accused both rappers of raping her in 2000.

Buzbee wasted no time responding to reports that he can't practice in the Southern New York District after his request for permission was denied.
He shared an image of a notice from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York Third Judicial Department.
The notice, signed by Clerk of the Court Robert D. Mayberger, read, "Anthony Glenn Buzbee was duly licensed and admitted to practice as an Attorney and Counselor at Law in all the courts of this State on January 17, 2019."
The notice added that Buzbee "has duly taken and subscribed the oath of office prescribed by law, has been enrolled in the Roll of Attorney and Counselors at Law on file in this office."
It concluded that Buzbee "is duly registered with the Office of Court Administration, and according to the records of this Court is currently in good standing as an Attorney and Counselor-at-Law."
Tony Buzbee Claims 'Bunk' Reports Are From 'Those With An Agenda'

In his post's caption, Buzbee fired back at the reports that he has been "barred" from practicing law in New York.
He wrote, "I receive many press inquiries and make no effort to respond to most. I prefer rather to make a one-time general statement and let the various entities use that statement as they see fit."
The lawyer added, "Over the past week, I’ve gotten multiple inquiries from friends and colleagues expressing concern and asking why I have been "barred" from practicing law in New York State and offering their assistance."
He said he also saw "several press agencies, some borderline legitimate, reporting that same trash."
Buzbee clarified, "Let me be clear. I'm licensed to practice law in New York. I'm in good standing with the state bar and have always been. Although I prefer Texas, I'm proud of the legal work we are doing in New York."
He concluded, "Don't believe the click bait or dramatic headlines. Most of what's reported nowadays is pure bunk by those with an agenda."

Legal journalist Meghann Cuniff broke the news on Saturday that Buzbee is not allowed to practice law in Southern New York.
She shared a series of posts on X, including a ruling from the Committee on Grievances dated February 13, 2025.
The ruling read, "The Committee on Grievances has considered Anthony G. Buzbee's petition for admission to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (the "Petition"), which was filed on January 29, 2025."
It continued, "Per the Committee's review of the dockets, Mr. Buzbee has appeared in cases in this court without seeking admission. Therefore, the Petition is denied."
The ruling concluded, "In the event Mr. Buzbee moves for pro hac vice or regular admission in this Court in the future, he must attach a copy of this Order to his motion or petition."
Buzbee's Lawsuits Against Diddy Might Be At Risk

Cuniff explained what the ruling could mean for Tony Buzbee's lawsuits against Diddy and what he was trying to do about it.
She wrote, "His lawsuit against Jay-Z is dismissed and not coming back, and now Tony Buzbee is trying to ensure he can keep litigating his other lawsuits against Diddy because his admission application in the Southern District of New York was denied."
With the ruling, Buzbee has to include a letter of denial when requesting permission to litigate in Southern New York.
Buzbee 'Trying' To Ensure He Continues To Litigate In Southern New York

Cuniff revealed he was trying to do so for his cases against Diddy in the Southern New York District.
She shared a snapshot showing a motion he filed to litigate pro hac vice, captioning it, "As the order says, Buzbee can seek "pro hac vice" admission, and that's what he's doing now in the Diddy lawsuits. Or trying to at least."
The journalist also shared documents from Candice McCrary's lawsuit against Diddy, in which the judge asked Buzbee, who represents the plaintiff, to file a motion to appear pro hac vice after learning about his inability to litigate in Southern New York.
