Jessica Simpson has embraced sobriety, finding a deeper connection to her true self and artistry.
She is set to release an emotionally raw EP, "Nashville Canyon Part 1," focused on vibe over chart success, with lyrics reflecting personal growth and heartbreak.
Jessica Simpson also recently shared her evolving perspective on love and loss after announcing her split from Eric Johnson.
Jessica Simpson Speaks On Her Sobriety

In a candid interview with The Cut, Simpson opened up about how quitting drinking helped her shed her fears, allowing her to embrace a more authentic version of herself and feel at peace in her own skin.
Reflecting on her creative journey during her drinking years, the 44-year-old singer said, "Around 2016, '17, I was writing out here in Los Angeles with some of the biggest hitmakers. I have songs from those times that I never released because they just didn't feel like me."
She recalled feeling disconnected from herself while writing, saying, "Every time I would write, I was a little afraid of myself. It was almost too much, especially because I was drinking at the time."
At the time, Simpson thought the alcohol made her "cool" and helped her come up with "cool words that would rhyme, that wouldn't be so expected," but she admitted, "I overthought it when I drank."
Simpson noted that once she gave up alcohol, the shift was profound. "The fears just diminished. They went away. And it was so much easier for me to access myself artistically," she said.
Her New EP Is All About 'Having A Vibe' Not 'A Hit'

Simpson is set to release an emotionally charged EP titled "Nashville Canyon Part 1," and the singer has made it clear that she's not focused on chasing chart success.
Acknowledging the stark contrast between this EP and her previous work, she explained, "Making this record wasn't about having a hit. It was just about having a vibe."
She added that the sound was deliberately different from the current trends in Los Angeles.
"There's really not a lot of that in Los Angeles right now. It's formulaic. I wanted to break that mold for myself personally," she said.
Jessica Simpson Does Not Expect Her Songs To Chart

Simpson emphasized that she's not concerned with commercial success amid her new music era.
"I don't care if anything's a hit. I'm not with a record label. I don't expect it to even be on the radio," she shared, per the Daily Mail. "I appreciate that you realize how deeply rooted, in unexpected ways, this project is for me to set myself apart from old versions of myself. It's not like it's not me singing."
Her new track is filled with gut-wrenching lyrics, such as: "Go on / Use my heart against me / Double down like I'm your whisky."
In another part, she sings, "Drink me in until you're tipsy / One and done / On the run / Restless soul / Rattle the reverb / Holy Ghost of a believer / I'm the key and you're the keeper / Here I come / Here I come / Don't misuse / Don't confuse / My love.
Her New EP Is Described As 'The 'Soundtrack To Her Soul'

Simpson's new music project promises to be an emotionally charged journey. A source close to the singer told the Daily Mail, "She's singing from the heart, and there's a lot of pain there. She's going deep. She has called it the 'soundtrack to my soul.'"
"It is a bit like the Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill album. Very raw and full of wild emotion. She will shock the pants off her fans," the insider added.
Last year, Simpson teased that the album would center around someone who wronged her, calling it a personal apology to herself.
"'This comeback is personal, it's an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve," she wrote on social media.
Jessica Simpson Speaks On Rediscovering Her Voice After Split From Eric Johnson

Last year, Simpson returned to her country music roots, recording her highly anticipated album in Nashville, Tennessee.
In an interview with People Magazine this week, the 44-year-old star opened up about how creating new music in Nashville helped mend her broken heart, revealing the songs that sparked her journey back to finding her own voice.
This came just a month after announcing the end of her 10-year marriage to Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children.
"I've grown so much. I can handle so much," she said. "Maybe I'm just meant to love a lot of people in my life."
Simpson also shared her perspective on love and loss, saying, "I don't know why my heart gets tossed around, but I'm one of the lucky ones. At least I have my children, and I still have Eric. He's very much a part of my life and always will be."
