Tragic Cause Of Death Revealed For Demi Lovato's Ex Guilherme 'Bomba' Vasconcelos

The cause of death for former UFC and Bellator fighter Guilherme ‘Bomba’ Vasconcelos has been officially confirmed.

Authorities were dispatched to Guilherme Vasconcelos’ home in Illinois on the morning of October 15, after a woman found him in the garage.

According to a case report obtained by TMZ, the 38-year-old Brazilian athlete died by suicide. Security camera footage further revealed that he had taken his own life the night before, at approximately 11:45 PM. Guilherme Vasconcelos' body was not discovered until the following morning.

A search of the residence led to the discovery of multiple vials of anabolic steroids, with two nearly empty and two unopened. However, authorities did not find a suicide note at the scene.

Following a toxicology report, the only substance detected in Vasconcelos’ system was caffeine.

His uncle, Walter, was the first to confirm the heartbreaking news, expressing his grief in a statement. “My dear nephew, my consecration godson, extreme father of little Naomi, much-loved son of my sister Elisabete Vasconcelos partner of his brothers, Breno and Isabela, and our extended family that today mourns his premature departure," the English translation reads.

"Life is a breath of fresh air, and we woke up to this heartbreaking news," he continued. "What a time we live in! We pray for you. May God, who can do everything, welcome you in His infinite mercy and comfort all of us who have always loved you unconditionally."

Walter went on to express how proud he is of his late nephew. "You chased your dreams in the United States as an MMA fighter, Guilherme Bomba," he said. "You became a champion in Brazil, but we never imagined that this journey would lead you to a point of no return without any of us by your side."

Guilherme's mom, Elisabete Vasconcelos, also wrote a message following his death. “Eternal longing for my beloved son,” she expressed.

Vasconcelos, known for his aggressive fighting style, put up a professional MMA record of 10-6 over the course of his career. He competed in both the UFC and Bellator, gaining a strong following in the combat sports world.

The fighter recently revealed that he was unable to compete in a jiu-jitsu tournament in Las Vegas.

“Unfortunately the injury I had in my lower back 1 month ago came back, and when I finished my first fight, I could no longer walk and had to abandon the competition," he wrote at the time. “One of the most frustrating situations that has ever happened to me in a competition. Now the focus is on my recovery.”

The late MMA fighter gained additional media attention for his relationship with singer Demi Lovato. The two were first spotted together on New Year’s Eve in 2017, and they continued to make public appearances together, including a movie date on New Year’s Day.

Their romance ended in July 2017, with sources at the time stating that their relationship had simply “run its course.”

At the time of Vasconcelos’ passing, Demi Lovato publicly mourned her ex, sharing heartfelt words on social media.

“Very, very sad. Darling, I send you love,” she wrote in response to a post from her friend, Kim de Jesus, who had also shared a close friendship with the late fighter. “Rest in peace, dear angel," Lovato added, per Hola.

Kim de Jesus honored Vasconcelos by posting a series of photos and videos showcasing his strong chemistry with friends and family, as well as his dedication to mentoring young fighters.

“Oh, Bomba [crying emji] [broken heart emoji]. You were the epitome of strength and love, the toughest and gentlest giant that ever existed,” she wrote. “I don't know of a single person who has ever met you who doesn't completely adore you. You worked so hard. You loved so much. You were simply the best. Our cardio king Savage, you are so loved [lion face emoji].”

Vasconcelos leaves behind a one-year-old daughter, whom he shared with model Kayla Lauren.
