According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, who analyzed the exchange for the Daily Mail, Lively appeared to be leaning on Schumer for support as they embraced at the star-studded event.

During their lengthy hug, Lively allegedly told Schumer, “I need this hug so much,” before glancing at her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and adding, “God help me.”

Schumer reassured her, responding, “You’re gonna be okay. They are projecting onto him.”

Hickling also claimed that Lively thanked Schumer for “being there” during this challenging time.

An insider close to the case told Page Six that Reynolds’ public joke about the lawsuit may not go unnoticed in court. “It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend him,” the source explained.

The insider also pointed out a stark contrast in how both sides are handling the legal dispute.

“Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it,” they added, suggesting that Reynolds' quip could be framed as downplaying the severity of the allegations.

While it's still unclear how Baldoni’s attorneys plan to incorporate Reynolds’ "SNL" appearance into their strategy, both legal teams had previously been warned against making public statements or taking actions that could influence a potential jury.

Body language expert Judi James analyzed Lively and Reynolds’ behavior at the event, telling Page Six that Lively displayed “signs of stoicism” throughout the night.

"Appearing on a 'no holds barred' show like 'Saturday Night Live' when you're in the middle of a legal and PR battle can seem brave to the point of reckless, but humor and even self-effacing mockery can be a great diffuser," James explained.

"Laughter relaxes the body and the mind, and when you laugh with the person who has been put on the spot, you regain those feelings of rapport that you might have had before," she added.

“Initially, both seem intending to smile for the cameras, but those smiles look forced as they start to build on their faces,” James observed.

While some saw the couple’s presence at "SNL 50" as a show of strength, insiders told Page Six that they “should have sat this one out,” believing their attendance may have unintended consequences.

“It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend Baldoni,” a source claimed. “Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it.”

However, another insider pushed back on the criticism, saying Lively and Reynolds have no regrets about showing up. “They’re glad they attended because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to,” the source added.

This all comes weeks after Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, dropped a bombshell when he publicly shared behind-the-scenes footage from the set of "It Ends with Us" in an apparent effort to challenge Lively’s allegations of inappropriate behavior.

With the lawsuit still unfolding, it’s clear that Lively, Reynolds, and Baldoni remain under intense public scrutiny, and even Hollywood’s biggest stages aren’t immune to the legal drama playing out behind the scenes.
