Ryan Reynolds' SNL Joke May Have Just Destroyed Blake Lively's Credibility

Actor Ryan Reynolds may have channeled his Deadpool character a little too well after making a bold joke referencing the ongoing legal battle between his wife, actress Blake Lively, and her "It Ends With Us" costar and director JustinBaldoni.
Lively is suing for alleged sexual harassment on the set of the film, while Baldoni has countersued claiming that she wrestled creative control of the movie away from him. At the SNL’s 50th anniversary celebration, Reynolds made light of the dueling lawsuits, which has drawn suspicion about the validity of her claims.
Did Ryan Reynolds Poke A Massive Hole In Blake Lively's Lawsuit?

During the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary specials, comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler addressed Reynolds when he said he had a question for the pair. When they asked, “How’s it going?” Reynolds responded, “Great! Why? What have you heard?
Although the live audience burst into laughter, the “Gossip Girl” alum turned to her husband with a mixed look of confusion and shock. One user commented on a video clip of the moment, writing, “Blake Lively’s face says it all. She looks shook after Ryan Reynolds cracked that joke at ‘SNL 50.’”

Ryan Reynolds’ comment seems strange because it is. Blake Lively is accusing someone of sexually harassing her on the set of a film, and her husband basically made it the punchline of a joke. The validity of Lively’s claims has been called into question time and time again, as many wonder just how involved Reynolds was in the creation of the film.
In August 2024, at the New York City premiere, Lively revealed that Reynolds wrote the rooftop scene that was used in the film. "The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that but you now,” she told E! News at the time, leading some to think that Reynolds might have had more involvement in the making of the film than has been revealed so far.
Blake Lively’s ‘Secret Plan’ To Take Over Movies Revealed

It’s not really a secret if you tell someone about it, and it’s definitely not a secret if you decide to broadcast it in front of the whole world. But that’s what Lively did when she attended the Forbes Power Women’s Summit in 2022 and unveiled her “secret plan” for taking charge. She revealed that she wasn’t happy only being an actress; she wanted a role in making the movie as well.
“When I was in the meetings, I was like, I’m just here to be the actor and I’m here to get the gig. I wouldn’t reveal that I needed to have authorship to feel fulfilled,” Lively explained. “And I feel for them, it felt like a rug pull, and you’re trying to insert yourself into something we didn’t hire you to do.”
Lively explained that she sometimes butted heads with directors and costars for not announcing her intentions upfront. “Sometimes I had the director, writers, producers who would welcome that once I was able to offer that, and sometimes I had people who resented that, because they just hired me to be the actor," she said.
Has Blake Lively Already Been Caught In A Lie?

The trial hasn’t even started yet and it seems that “The Age of Adaline” actress may have already been caught in a lie. One thing that Lively accused Baldoni of in her lawsuit was body shaming. When it came out that he had indeed asked her personal trainer for her weight, it looked pretty bad for the disgraced director.
However, Baldoni added a lot more context in his lawsuit. He claimed that he had multiple bulging discs in his back and needed to know how much he needed to train in order to pull off a romantic lift sequence that was supposed to be used in the film. The added context does seem to poke a hole in Lively’s body-shaming accusation.
But that’s not where this ends. In an interesting twist, Lively claims that the lift sequence never existed even though Baldoni’s legal team has provided evidence of edited scripts and rehearsal footage with choreographers.
If Lively is willing to fudge the truth about that, doesn't that call all of her claims into question?
Will Ryan Reynolds' SNL Joke Appear In Court?

It's unclear what is going to happen to Blake Lively's reputation as the lawsuit progresses, especially when many are comparing her to Amber Heard. Ryan Reynolds' career will probably not suffer much. Not only does he have many different pans in the fire, but he's not in danger of being replaced in his iconic Deadpool role.
If anything, it looks like Baldoni's career will be the hardest hit by her accusations. Even though his professional reputation is suffering right now, he does seem to have the most evidence for when this goes to trial next year. Reynolds even handed him a potential win during the "SNL" anniversary special and Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman seems to be very aware of it.
"I'm unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation," Freedman stated while speaking on "Hot Mics with Billy Bush" on February 17. "I can't think of anyone who's done anything like that. It surprised me."
In response to his comments, an insider told Page Six: "It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend him," adding, "Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it."
Who would make a public mockery of a sexual harassment allegation? If the answer is Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively may have more to worry about than just her "It Ends With Us" lawsuit.
