Rachael Kirkconnell is setting the record straight about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Matt James after fans speculated about her recent social media activity.
One month after their split, fans noticed that Kirkconnell had "liked" one of James' Instagram posts featuring highlights from his trip to Kenya.
This small gesture quickly sparked buzz online, with many wondering if it hinted at a possible reconciliation or lingering feelings between Rachael Kirkconnell and her ex.
Rachael Kirkconnell Responds To Speculation About Matt's Instagram Post

In a TikTok video shared on February 17, social media personality Zachary Reality pointed out Kirkconnell's interaction with James' post, offering his interpretation of what it could mean.
"To me, this says, 'We are on friendlier terms,'" he said in the video. "We've probably talked a little bit behind the scenes. Now I'm liking your post to let the fans know that things have smoothed over a little bit."
Kirkconnell agreed with Zachary's take in the comments section but clarified that her feelings for James haven't changed since they ended their relationship.
"Never hated him and never will. I will always be rooting for him and wish him the best," she wrote. "At the end of the day, a like is just a like. We're all good over here."
Rachael Defends Herself Against Further Speculation
As speculation continued, Kirkconnell addressed more fan reactions regarding her social media activity.
When one TikTok user commented, "I want her to want better for herself," Kirkconnell responded directly:
"I do, Alexis!! We're good over here."
Another user suggested that Kirkconnell "liked" James' post in an effort to get back in his "good graces" after discussing their breakup on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast last month. However, she quickly shut down that claim, also clarifying that she never unfollowed James on social media.
Is Kirkconnell Trying To Encourage Fans To Support Matt James?

One fan speculated that her interaction was a way to encourage fans to stop attacking James online, referencing her "Call Her Daddy" interview, where she avoided painting him as the "villain" in their split.
"Maybe it's her way of telling fans to lay off the hate on him. Even on 'CHD,' she didn't want him to be pinned as the villain," the user wrote.
Kirkconnell confirmed their theory, responding, "Yes, Dana," and adding a yellow heart emoji under the comment.
Matt James Deletes His Breakup Post

While Kirkconnell has openly addressed their split, James has largely remained silent, aside from a since-deleted breakup announcement he posted in January.
"Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts," James wrote alongside a throwback photo of the couple from their time on "The Bachelor" in 2021. "Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us."
Following their split, James left for Kenya, where he posted a montage of clips from his trip on Instagram.
"How you spend 24 hours in Nairobi, Kenya," he captioned the video on Monday, which was the same post that Kirkconnell left a "like" on, reigniting speculation about where they stand.
What Led To Their Breakup?

On the January 28 episode of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Kirkconnell revealed that their breakup stemmed from an argument during a trip to Tokyo earlier that month. She also shared that James did not give her any warning before publicly announcing their split on Instagram.
"I would love to know. I don't know if it was out of just him being so worked up, if it was out of anger, or if it was one of those things where he felt like he needed to do it to really finally just put a nail in the coffin," Kirkconnell said.
She added that she found out about the post right before boarding her flight home from Japan, expressing frustration over how it was handled.
"When I step back, I'm mad … he should not have done that to me after four years. He didn't even text me to give me a warning, like, saying, 'Hey, I'm posting this.'"
While Kirkconnell and James may no longer be together, her latest comments make it clear that there's no bad blood between them.
