Ryan Reynolds had "Saturday Night Live" fans doing a double take after cracking a bold joke referencing the ongoing legal battle between his wife, Blake Lively, and actor-director Justin Baldoni.
The "Deadpool" star and Lively made a rare public appearance at "SNL"’s 50th anniversary celebration, an event packed with Hollywood’s biggest names.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' attendance marked the couple’s first major outing since the highly publicized "It Ends With Us" controversy, which has seen both Lively and Baldoni embroiled in dueling lawsuits.
Ryan Reynolds Stuns Fans With 'SNL' Joke About Blake Lively And Justin Baldoni Scandal

Back in December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and alleging he caused her “severe emotional distress.” Baldoni, who was dropped by his agency in the wake of the allegations, denied all claims and retaliated with a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, alleging they attempted to “destroy” his reputation and career.
Despite the heavy subject matter, "SNL" seemingly encouraged Reynolds to acknowledge the situation in a comedic moment alongside Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
During a segment in which the two comedians answered audience questions, Reynolds stood up and announced, “I had a question.” Fey and Poehler, recognizing him instantly, responded with, “Ryan! How’s it going?” Without missing a beat, Reynolds quipped back, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”

While the audience erupted in laughter, it was Lively’s reaction that stole the spotlight.
Initially smiling, she quickly turned to her husband in apparent shock as he alluded to their ongoing legal issues. Though the moment was clearly staged for comedic effect, her stunned expression sparked a wave of reactions online, with some even questioning if Blake was left out of the plan.
"Blake Lively’s face says it all," one social media user said after seeing the clip. "She looks shook after Ryan Reynolds cracked that joke at 'SNL 50.'
"Blake Lively’s expression here says it all," another expressed.

Other fans wasted no time speculating about what was going through Lively’s mind.
One viewer joked, “Blake’s like ‘Ryan, we did not talk about this.’”
Another added, “Blake was clearly caught off guard.”
A third chimed in, “Ryan is definitely in trouble when he gets home based on Blake’s face.”
Blake Lively's Legal Drama With Justin Baldoni Continues To Heat Up

This week, Lively’s legal team has since escalated their efforts, reportedly sending subpoenas to three major U.S. phone carriers, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, seeking Baldoni’s phone records.
According to Us Weekly, they have also requested records from Baldoni’s publicists, Jennifer Abel and Melissa Nathan, in an effort to “expose the full web of individuals” they allege are involved in a smear campaign against Lively.
“Such records will provide critical and irrefutable evidence not only about who, but also about when, where, and how their retaliation plan came together and operated,” Lively’s representative told the publication.
In response, Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, pushed back against the move, calling it an overreach.
"They are asking for every single call, text, data log and even real-time location information for the past two and a half years, regardless of the sender, recipient or subject matter," he said in a statement to PEOPLE Magazine. "This massive fishing expedition demonstrates that they are desperately seeking any factual basis for their provably false claims. They will find none."
Justin Baldoni Launches Explosive Website Containing Legal Docs, Text Messages, And More

As The Blast reported earlier this month, Baldoni’s team launched a website containing two legal documents related to the dispute.
One of the documents includes an amendment claiming that The New York Times had access to Lively’s lawsuit at least 11 days before publishing their report. The newspaper has since refuted the claim, stating that the filings were “rife with inaccuracies.”
A New York federal judge has informed both parties to prepare for a trial in March 2026.
