Shakira is facing backlash after fans accused her of “copying” and “plagiarizing” elements from Beyoncé’s "Renaissance" tour for her newly launched "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" world tour.

The controversy erupted after photos from the Colombian singer’s first tour stop at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro surfaced online on Tuesday.

Many quickly noticed striking similarities between Shakira’s stage production and the record-breaking 2023 tour by Beyoncé.

Shakira’s Tour Sparks Drama As Beyoncé Fans Say It’s A 'Renaissance' Rip-Off

One of the most talked-about comparisons is a massive screen displaying Shakira’s image, name, and tour title, which some claim is a nearly identical setup to Beyoncé’s use of "RENAISSANCE" in silver letters on stage.

Additionally, Shakira introduced a metallic wolf as part of her performance, a choice that closely resembles Beyoncé’s giant silver horse, which became a defining symbol of her tour.

The similarities didn’t end there. Fans also pointed out that Shakira and her dancers wore silver outfits, mirroring the signature chrome aesthetic that Beyoncé, her dancers, and even her fans embraced throughout "Renaissance."

Fans Debate Whether Shakira’s Tour Is ‘Too Similar’ To Renaissance

Social media users wasted no time sharing their thoughts on the comparisons, with many calling out the "Hips Don't Lie" singer for the apparent resemblances.

“Shakira said they were studying Beyoncé, but they actually ripped everything that wasn’t nailed to the floor, omg,” one user wrote on X.

Another person added, “Beyoncé team needs to sue Shakira at this point… she wasn’t taking notes, she’s plagiarizing.”

Others expressed disbelief at how closely Shakira’s tour mirrored Beyoncé’s, with one fan commenting, “The Shakira tour copy/paste is wild. I’m trying not to think too much of it but it’s crazy how the team just redid Beyoncé’s entire process for this.”

Others Came To Shakira's Defense

However, not everyone saw it as an issue. Some defended Shakira, arguing that her tour was simply “inspired” by Beyoncé rather than a direct copy.

“BeyHive, y’all are doing way tooooo much about this Shakira stuff. … But, we have fallen into a pattern of always dunking on people who always show they’re inspired by her. It’s unnecessary!” one user wrote.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, stating, “You guys can stop dragging Shakira now. It’s been 2 days… She was clearly inspired as she said she took notes when she attended the 'Renaissance' tour. Imitation is also a form of art and she was clearly impressed by the 'Renaissance' tour and that’s a compliment to Beyoncé.”
