According to a new Rolling Stone report, Payne, who passed away at 31 years old in October 2024, allegedly engaged in explicit conversations with other men while in an on-again, off-again relationship with his ex-fiancée Maya Henry from 2018 to 2022.

Insiders told the magazine that Henry discovered Payne's secret behavior in an unexpected and embarrassing manner when the singer "accidentally broadcasted" his private messages onto their TV.

Payne previously spoke to Attitude Magazine about his views on same-sex marriage months after it became legal in all US states. He recalled being in America with the band at the time the law was passed and seeing “loads of great parties and flags flying everywhere” in celebration.

“It’s strange to me that countries are still refusing to pass the law. I just don’t understand why it’s taking them so long,” he said. “We live in a time where everything is a lot more acceptable, but certain countries won’t move on. It’s made into a bigger issue than it should have been by people who are holding on to history. You can’t live in the past, you have to move with the times.”

At that time, countries such as Australia, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Switzerland had not yet legalized marriage equality.

“All the issues people think are issues I don’t see as issues at all,” Payne continued. “I don’t pay any attention to whether people are gay or not, I am just into people. Loads of people are into all sorts, but if they are my mate and I get on with them, that’s all that counts.”

The “Strip That Down” singer added that he had “a lot” of gay friends, who had been in his life for a long time.

“I actually find it funny that being gay is still something that’s talked about as though it’s not natural," he explained. "I don’t go around saying: ‘Oh, this guy is gay’. I don’t make a big deal about it. I will just say, ‘This is my mate’. My mates are my mates, regardless of their sexuality.”

Argentinian authorities have charged five individuals in connection with the tragic death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer, who fell from a third-floor balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel on October 16, 2024.

Among those charged are the hotel manager, the receptionist, a hotel employee, a waiter, and one of Payne’s friends, with accusations ranging from manslaughter to drug distribution.

The prosecutor’s office has officially presented evidence to a judge, who has approved moving forward to the next phase of the case. Under Argentina’s legal system, the judge must now decide whether the case will proceed to trial. While the defendants’ lawyers can still appeal the decision, if their appeals are denied, the case will move forward.

The individuals charged have been identified in court documents by their initials, as is customary in Argentina at this stage. Judge Laura Bruniard outlined the specific allegations against each defendant in the case.

On the evening of October 16, Payne was reportedly heavily intoxicated in the lobby of the Casa Sur hotel, where he was staying.

Security footage and witness testimonies revealed that at 4:54 p.m., Payne was found unconscious and dragged to his room by three individuals. Rather than intervening, the hotel manager allegedly ignored the situation, while the receptionist reportedly facilitated Payne’s placement in a dangerous room featuring a balcony described as a safety hazard.

Prosecutor Marcelo Bruniard determined that Payne, in his intoxicated and impaired state, likely mistook the balcony for an exit and tragically fell to his death. Toxicology reports confirmed that alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant were in Payne’s system at the time of his fall.

Those who have been charged include hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra, who is accused of selling cocaine to Payne on October 15 and 16. A waiter, Braian Paiz, is also alleged to have sold cocaine to the singer on October 14.

Meanwhile, Liam Payne’s friend, Roger Nores, faces manslaughter charges, with prosecutors alleging he failed to fulfill his duty of care by abandoning Payne when he was incapable of taking care of himself, despite knowing of his multiple addictions.

Hotel manager Gilda Martin is accused of manslaughter for failing to prevent Payne from being taken to his hotel room, knowing that his condition made the balcony a serious safety hazard. Prosecutors argue that she should have ensured the singer was placed in a secure environment until medical professionals could intervene.

And Chief receptionist Esteban Grassi also faces manslaughter charges for allegedly ordering three individuals to drag Payne, who was unable to stand, back to his room rather than ensuring his safety.
