'Karate Kid' Star Robert Garrison Dead At Age 59, Actor Played 'Tommy' In Iconic Films

Robert Garrison, the actor who played Tommy in the 'Karate Kid' films, has passed away.
Garrison, 59, died Friday in a West Virginia hospital after battling a long illness.
A representative for the actor said in a statement, Robert, "was a great person and ambassador to The Karate Kid legacy. His performance in season two of Cobra Kai, being his last, was simply amazing and he stole the episode. He will be missed by me and everyone he encountered."

Garrison's family, says the actor died Friday morning at a hospital in West Virginia.
"His passing wasn't sudden. He had been in the hospital for over a month dealing with kidney and liver issues, and his organs shut down," the rep continued.
The family is currently working on funeral arrangements.

His big role was 'Tommy' in the 1984 martial arts movie, which starred Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. The most famous scene in the original movie has Garrison yelling "Get him a body bag," referencing Macchio's character Daniel losing the peak of the film's fight.

Garrison made his way back to the the the dojo, with YouTube's sequel series 'Cobra Kai' starring with William Zabka, who played Johnny in the film.
