Singer Kesha has rushed to court pleading with a judge to seal her private records and emails.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Kesha has requested for a judge to seal all of her private communications and years of her medical history, as part of a legal battle.
Kesha has been battling Dr. Luke for years in a never-ending court battle. The singer sued the music producer accusing him of sexually harassment, demanding to be let out of her contract.
Dr. Luke has denied the allegations accusing Kesha of wanting out of her record deal. The case has dragged on for years, with everyone from Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga supporting Kesha. The case is still ongoing in New York Court.
In the middle of Kesha and Dr. Luke’s dueling legal battles, the music producer filed a separate lawsuit against Kesha’s former lawyer, Mark Geragos. He accused the lawyer of defamation over public statements he made about Kesha’s case, allegedly making it appear Luke assaulted Gaga.
Geragos has sought to dismiss the case but it has moved along. In newly filed court documents, Kesha is now attempting to seal records as part of Luke’s case against Gergos.
She says a ton of discovery has been turned over in the legal battle, including “102,000 documents totaling approximately 737,000 pages” and 110 video files. Further, “(i) balance sheets reflecting her personal finances and those of her various companies,(ii) financial records relating to her breach-of-contract and royalty disputes with Dr. Luke and his companies”
She continued, “(iii) e-mails, text messages, and videos relating to Kesha’s proprietary interests in her ongoing writing and recording of music,(iv) highly sensitive medical records relating to (among other things) Kesha’s early-2014 treatment for an eating disorder, treatment from a nurse practitioner, and Kesha’s individual therapy sessions.”
She claims the, “pages of medical records produced in the Sebert Litigation reflect privileged discussions of deeply personal issues.” She fears the information will leak if not sealed. A judge has yet to rule.
