Dove Cameron Told Sheer Braless Top Doesn't Count As 'Clothing'

Dove Cameron has come under fire for her fashion choice. The former Disney star, 29, turned heads on Instagram last fall, sharing bathroom selfies of herself while in a stylish, ribbed top. Showing off her slender frame while freeing the nipple, Dove went slightly sheer in a collared, long-sleeved look, one leaving little to the imagination. While the post earned The Descendants star over 1.7 million likes, it didn't come without drama as some fans lashed out over her busty display. A popular comment even saw a fan deem her look "not clothing."

Showing hints of her tapered black pants, Dove flaunted her teeny waist and slim shoulders, tucking what may have been a bodysuit into her pants and holding her phone with one hand.

Wearing minuscule earrings and a ring as she flashed some of her many tattoos, Dove sported her locks partly tied back, going for a straight blow-out as she drew attention to her cherub-like features. The singer also sported a matte layer of makeup, wearing blush over foundation, plus a matte rosy lip stain. In a swipe right, she shared studio moments, although she eventually returned in her eye-popping top, even sneaking in a video version of the bathroom moment.

"HoooOOOOO000ME," she wrote. "So pretty omg," one fan wrote, but for another, the look just wasn't appropriate. "Clothes are not clothing anymore," they said with a sad-face emoji. Over 45 users liked the comment. Defending the actress, one user advised that the OP "skip" if they found the content offensive.

Dove Cameron had arguably showed even more in this photo, where she brought back the hair bra trend. Showing off her abs and curves while protecting her modesty with her long hair worn down last year, the Balmain Beauty ambassador stunned her 47 million Instagram followers, and with over 3.6 million likes left, the photo definitely proved popular.

Dove Cameron has opened up about her past eating disorder and body-image battles. Speaking to J-14 as she advocated for self-love and body positivity, she shared: “I think that’s the secret. You have to learn to love yourself so that your view of yourself trumps everyone else’s. Once you can get to that place, it really does make all the difference in your self-esteem.”
