Sorry, But Travis Kelce Is Not Going To Propose To Taylor Swift At The Super Bowl

Sorry to disappoint the Swifties out there, but Travis Kelce is not going to propose to Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl.

In fact, it's actually a little confusing to see how many people want this to happen. The Kansas City Chiefs are on a historic record-breaking Super Bowl run. Why should his achievements be overshadowed by his relationship?

And, vice versa, the same goes for those who were hoping Kelce would pop the ring while Swift was on stage during The Eras Tour. It just wasn't going to happen.

Remember when there was a time when you could pick up a tabloid and read about someone other than Taylor Swift? I don't either. She has, through an astronomical amount of luck and skill, become one of the most powerful people on the planet. Her influence might actually make her more powerful than some politicians, but that's a story for another time.

The point is, she has worked incredibly hard for her success. Even those who are sick of hearing her name can admit that she has carved her name in history. The same goes for Travis Kelce, although it's fair to say that Swift helped put him on the map. His roles in Ryan Murphy’s “Grotesquerie” and his hosting gig for “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?” likely wouldn't have materialized without Swift's influence, but he has been working hard on the field before most Swifties even knew his name.

The Super Bowl Is About The Chiefs, Not Taylor Swift

The Kansas City Chiefs have won four Super Bowls and they are looking to claim victory again after they claimed a 25-22 overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers last year. In the 2024 NFL regular season, the Chiefs posted an impressive 15-2 record and are hoping to make history with a three-in-a-row victory.

The only time any team has ever come close to a three-peat is the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. The 49ers won in 1988 and 1989 but lost to the New York Giants in 1990. If the Kansas City Chiefs are able to make history, does Travis Kelce and the team really want their victory to be overshadowed by the inevitable headlines announcing that Taylor Swift is finally engaged?

I'll flip a coin. Heads it's no. Tails it's... hmm, still no.

Swift Doesn’t Want To Overshadow His Career, Either

This weekend, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles, Taylor Swift knows that at least one camera will be focused on her, just as it was at last year’s main event. Even though she has no problem publicly supporting her boyfriend, she wants to show up for him, not the cameras.

A source recently told The Sun that “Taylor doesn’t want to be the center of attention” at the Super Bowl, adding, “She just wants to support Travis and help him focus on the game.”

They went on to say, "She wants Travis to enjoy his Super Bowl week experience and be at 110% for Sunday, as she is dreaming about him making Super Bowl history and reaching another dream of his, winning another Super Bowl and making a three-peat."

Taylor knows that this is his legacy and his day. It’s not about her.

Does she know that? I think she does, but those who believe that their whole relationship is one fantastically drawn-out PR stunt will probably disagree.

Are They Even Ready To Get Married?

Over the past few years, Swifties have watched the "Lavender Haze" singer get more comfortable with the spotlight following her public split from actor Joe Alwyn. Although they were involved for about six years, their relationship mostly transpired behind closed doors. Fans have only been able to use her song lyrics to figure out what caused the split, and 2022’s “You’re Losing Me” paints a devastating picture of how things could have ended:

"And I wouldn't marry me either
A pathological people-pleaser
Who only wanted you to see her."

Here's the problem. Fans have used Swift's lyrics to support whatever narrative they believe in. Some say Alwyn didn't want to marry her and so they broke up. Others say that she wasn't ready to marry him and called it quits. There are lyrics to support both theories, but at the end of the day, Swift is a storyteller. While the emotions behind her songs may be real, not every lyric may translate directly to a relationship milestone (except that scarf. Did she get that thing back yet?)

And it's not just about Swift. Kelce doesn't seem like he is ready to settle down and start a family just yet either. Just last month, he revealed that Swift has "fully encouraged" him to postpone his retirement and play another season if that's what he decides to do. However, he did admit that his stance on retirement "changes every single day." It makes sense that they would want to wait for each other to figure out where they stand in their respective careers before tying the knot.

Taylor Swift's Engagement Will Most Likely Be A Private Affair

In February 2022, Joe Alwyn "wouldn't say" if he was engaged to Taylor Swift despite rumors that the two had taken their relationship to the next level. There were even reports that Swift had a ring that she wore only in front of close friends and family members. The fact is, we don't know if there was any truth to these rumors. Swift could have gotten engaged to Alwyn before their inevitable split. We just don't know.

What fans do know is that she doesn't mind publicly supporting her current boyfriend at his football games. She doesn't mind holding his hand and getting followed by paparazzi when they go out to dinner. But there is still a lot about their relationship that fans don't get to see, and it seems that's just the way they want it.

During a press conference in June 2024, Kelce even decided to dodge a question asking what food they liked cooking together, responding, "I respect that question but I’m going to keep that one to myself because I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her so it’s something I’d rather just keep personal." That being said, that hasn't stopped him from praising her amazing homemade Pop-Tarts. But it does show that there is a level of intimacy to their relationship that fans aren't privy to, despite their public displays of affection.

So. To make a long story short, fans know all too well that Taylor Swift is a mastermind when it comes to protecting her public image. Kelce has shown that he respects her privacy by not revealing too many details about her on his "New Heights" podcast, and if they do decide to tie the knot, their family and friends will find out long before the media does.

So is Travis Kelce going to propose to Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl? Kristin says no. Not a chance. I'd even be willing to bet on it. I mean, it is the Super Bowl, after all.
