Ewan McGregor is facing a troubling situation involving an obsessed woman who has allegedly traveled cross-country to contact him while making bizarre and threatening statements.
The actor has filed for a restraining order against Angelica Gorentz, who Ewan McGregor claims has been sending him "rambling, delusional and threatening messages" since 2022.
Ewan McGregor Faces Disturbing Threats From Obsessed Woman Citing ‘Dexter’
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Gorentz believes she is McGregor’s jilted lover and that his wife, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, "stole" him from her.
The situation escalated significantly last month when Gorentz drove from Minnesota to California and attempted to access the home of McGregor’s ex-wife, where he, Winstead, and their children were celebrating Christmas Eve. Security turned her away at the gate after she allegedly asked a series of bizarre questions.
McGregor says Gorentz’s threats have intensified in recent weeks, including chilling references to firearms, the TV show "Dexter," and a sniper rifle she had been researching. He alleges she has sent more than 500 emails to him and his family members since 2022, with many messages containing aggressive and disturbing language about wanting to have children with him.
Woman Also Cited ‘Da Vinci Code’
One particularly alarming email from December read, "Because I only need your balls to have kids with you with IVF, not your f-cking d-ck."
Adding to the erratic behavior, McGregor claims that last October, Gorentz referenced watching "The Da Vinci Code" and claimed the film contained a secret message from the Illuminati confirming that she is a "princess."
'Baby Reindeer' 2.0?
The disturbing case has drawn comparisons to Netflix’s "Baby Reindeer," a true story of obsessive stalking, though McGregor’s situation lacks any element of humor. Court filings indicate that Gorentz even warned she was planning to travel to McGregor’s ex-wife’s home, later chastising the actor in another email, stating, "You f-ck up by the metric tone [sic] since you NEVER FOUND ME IN PERSON. Do I mack [sic] myself clear."
Disturbingly, she sent messages throughout her journey, providing details about her stops and activities in each town along the way.
A judge has granted a temporary restraining order, mandating that Gorentz remain at least 100 yards away from McGregor, his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his five children, and his ex-wife. Additionally, she is prohibited from contacting or harassing them in any manner.
McGregor is now seeking legal protection against Gorentz, fearing for his safety and the well-being of his family as the situation continues to escalate.
Elizabeth Debicki, Kate Fleetwood, And More Join Ewan McGregor In West End Play 'My Master Builder'
Emmy-winning actress Elizabeth Debicki ("The Crown") and Tony nominee Kate Fleetwood ("Macbeth") have officially joined McGregor in the highly anticipated West End production of "My Master Builder."
The play, directed by Michael Grandage and co-produced by MarketStall and Seaview, is a modern adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1892 classic "The Master Builder," reimagined by playwright Lila Raicek. Alongside McGregor, Debicki, and Fleetwood, the cast includes "Star Trek: Discovery" actor David Ajala and "Sex Education"’s Mirren Mack.
Set in the Hamptons on the eve of July 4th, My Master Builder follows publishing magnate Elena Solness (Fleetwood) as she prepares to host a lavish party in honor of her husband, architect Henry Solness (McGregor), who is unveiling his latest architectural masterpiece. However, their already fragile marriage is upended by the sudden arrival of Mathilde (Debicki), a former student of Henry’s with whom he shares a complicated past. As the night unfolds, secrets are revealed, forcing each character to confront a reckoning that will alter the course of their lives.
The production is set to open on April 29 at Wyndham’s Theatre.
Ewan McGregor To Reportedly Reprise His Role As Obi-Wan In 'Ahsoka' Season 2
Production for "Ahsoka" Season 2 is reportedly moving forward smoothly, but recent rumors have sparked excitement among "Star Wars" fans.
According to speculation, McGregor could reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming season, appearing in flashback sequences alongside Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker and Ariana Greenblatt as a young Ahsoka Tano.
The rumor originated from "Star Wars" podcast host Kristian Harloff, who claims that the potential flashback scenes will transport fans back to the era of the Clone Wars. If true, these sequences could be a major highlight of the season, as the Clone Wars remains one of the most pivotal and beloved periods in "Star Wars" history.
Given that Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka were deeply involved in battling the Separatist forces during that time, McGregor’s return would make perfect sense, offering fans a nostalgic reunion of these iconic characters.
