Chrissy Teigen has Selena Gomez's back amid the ICE controversy that erupted last week.

The "Wizards of Waverly Place" star found herself at the center of controversy after she posted and quickly deleted an emotional video addressing the Trump administration’s mass deportation initiative.

The video, in which Gomez tearfully expressed her concern for undocumented immigrants facing deportation, drew immediate backlash from right-wing figures and even an official response from the White House. The unexpected reaction from the White House led to an outpouring of support for the "Emilia Pérez" actress, with fans and celebrities alike rushing to her defense.

Among those speaking out was Chrissy Teigen, who criticized the administration for what she called an unnecessary attack on Selena Gomez.

Teigen is not holding back when it comes to defending Gomez, and she’s taking aim at the White House in the process. According to TMZ, the "Cravings " author blasted the Trump administration for its recent response to Gomez’s tearful reaction to mass ICE arrests, calling the political clap-back “disgusting” and unnecessary.

Teigen, who was spotted out Monday night, made it clear that she found the administration’s move deeply troubling. “How is having empathy a bad thing?” she asked, visibly frustrated by the situation.

She also doubled down on comments she previously made on social media, where she criticized the White House for wasting time on petty attacks.

“Having empathy is now something gross and weird,” Teigen wrote on Instagram Stories, sharing a PEOPLE article about the situation. “We love you, @selenagomez, and boy does the White House have a lot of time on their hands for the dumbest sh-tt ever. You want cheaper eggs? Too bad! Too many people to roast online. Maybe later.”

Actress Eiza González also expressed shock over the White House’s involvement, commenting on the administration’s official Instagram post, “What the hell is happening? How is the White House official page posting this? Are you serious?”

The White House’s response to Gomez’s video included a clip featuring three mothers who lost their children to violence committed by undocumented immigrants. The video, shared by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and posted on the administration’s social media accounts, directly tagged Gomez.

“You don’t know who you’re crying for. What about our children who were brutally murdered, and raped, and beat to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants?” Tammy Nobles, whose daughter, Kathy Hamilton, was killed by an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, said.

Others Took Aim At Selena Gomez

Another grieving mother, Jocelyn Nungaray, whose daughter was found dead last summer, took aim at Gomez’s credibility, arguing that the actress's background makes it difficult to take her emotions seriously.

“Seeing that video, it’s hard to believe that it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress,” Nungaray stated. “My daughter was a child. There are many other children whose lives were taken due to people who cross here illegally.”

Nungaray also praised Donald Trump, noting that the former and current president is already taking action on immigration enforcement just weeks into his administration. “It’s only been two weeks, if that, since he’s been in office and he’s taking accountability, and he’s making moves, and he’s making things happen,” she said.

The emotional response from these mothers followed Gomez’s brief but viral video, in which she sobbed over the mass deportations of undocumented immigrants under Trump’s policies.

“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise,” she said in the now-deleted clip, which included the message “I’m sorry” alongside a Mexican flag.

Gomez’s post immediately drew criticism from conservative figures, including former Utah Senate candidate Sam Parker, who went as far as to call for her deportation. “She picked illegals over America,” Parker claimed.

Following the backlash, Gomez clapped back at Parker’s comments. “Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat,” she wrote in response.

In another post, she doubled down on her stance, writing, “Apparently, it’s not OK to show empathy for people.”

The controversy continues to divide public opinion, with Gomez receiving both support and condemnation for her emotional response to the ongoing immigration debate.
