Taylor Swift's Toast To Kendrick Lamar Steals The Spotlight Amid Drake Feud

Taylor Swift headed to the 67th Grammy Awards, hoping to become the first artist to win five Album of the Year awards at the Grammys.

However, her moment of the night had nothing to do with any of her six nominations.

Instead, Taylor went viral for a surprising gesture she made to rapper Kendrick Lamar, who was the star of the event. Lamar won five Grammy awards for his rap diss "Not Like Us," which was directed at Drake.

Lamar was on stage making his acceptance speech after winning Record of the Year when Taylor rose from her chair and raised a glass in his direction.

The image has since gone viral, with many fans speculating that Swift was taking a dig at Drake.

"Taylor orchestrated the whole thing; she hates Drake more than Kenny," an X user commented.

Taylor Swift initially had nothing to do with the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake until the Canadian rapper repeatedly mentioned her name in his diss tracks.

In the diss track "Push Ups," which was released on April 19, 2024, Drake made fun of Lamar's friendship with Swift, rapping, "Maroon 5 need a verse you better make it witty, You only need a verse for the Swifties."

After Lamar failed to drop a reply to Drake's "Push Ups," the Canadian rapper took it further in another diss track titled "Taylor Made Freestyle."

What To Know About Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar's Relationship

Despite what Drake said in his diss tracks about Swift's and Lamar's relationship, the pair don't appear to be more than just industry friends.

Over their careers, Swift and Lamar have spoken highly of each other, and in 2015, Swift featured Lamar in her song "Bad Blood."

Then, in 2023, Swift made an Instagram post praising Lamar for returning to the studio to record a new version of the song for her album "1989 Taylor's Version."

"The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I'm so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me," she disclosed.

Taylor Swift might not have won any awards at the Grammys, but the musical star tried to enjoy the night as much as she could.

However, her decision to sing along to a line from Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" has not gone down well with some fans on X.

As Kendrick approached the stage to receive his award for Record of the Year, Swift was captured singing the lyrics "Why you trollin' like a b-tch? Ain't you tired?/ Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minor," alongside hundreds of people at the event.

Some fans have since called her out for "betraying" Drake, who has always shown her mutual respect.
