Justin Bieber has found his name in unwanted headlines after former "X Factor" contestant Cher Lloyd claimed she was urged to hook up with him to promote her album.
Lloyd also claimed she was asked to keep her marriage to her husband, Craig Monk, a secret from her record label because it would affect her career.
Lloyd's revelations shocked fans, who praised her for not accepting to do what she was asked to do.
Cher Lloyd Makes Shocking Claims Involving Justin Bieber
Lloyd was one of the contestants on "X Factor" in 2010, the year that also featured One Direction.
Following her appearance on the talent show, she rose to fame and released two albums.
However, despite enjoying success, Lloyd found things difficult in the background due to demands made of her.
During an appearance on the "We Need To Talk" podcast, the singer claimed there wasn't a promotional budget for her album. She also alleged that her record label urged her to "hook up" with Justin Bieber to promote the album.
Lloyd said, per The Express, "We spent millions on this album, but there's no budget to get people to go hear it. I walk in and I say, 'Look, I really need some cash to try and push this record.'"
She added, "Basically, [I was ] told no...what I needed to do to make this record take off was hit some of the clubs and find out where Bieber is and go try and get with him."
Lloyd's Reaction To Her Record Label's Demands
The 31-year-old singer revealed that she was a teenager when the demands were made of her. However, she and Monk were already an item at the time, and he was present when she was asked to get on with Justin Bieber.
She said, "He [Monk] was stood in that office while I was told they weren't gonna spend money on the album [and] to hook up with someone mega famous and leech off of the back of someone else's fame."
Lloyd said the record label's demands made her question her worth. "Was I not good enough? Was I not good enough to invest in that you would rather use me in that way? They didn't care."
Cher Lloyd Asked To Keep Her Marriage A Secret
Lloyd went against her record label's wishes and never dated Justin Bieber. Instead, she married Monk, and they have remained a couple since then.
However, in another part of the interview, she claimed she was asked not to let her record label know about the marriage because they would want to stop it.
She said, "Me and Craig were about to get married and I was told by people on my team, 'Do not let the label know because they will do anything to stop this marriage.'"
Lloyd explained, "The way that they thought about me getting married is once I'm married I'm "off the market". I hate that. I'm not a singer because I want to sleep around and I want to be in different celebrity relationships."

One Redditor wrote, "Welp that's disgusting. These poor young women. I'm glad she had it in her to say no way, but imagine how many people wouldn't have that kind of spirit, since girls are socialized to do what other people want first and take care of themselves last."
Another person said Lloyd's claims showed the music industry had more "horror" stories than Hollywood.
They said, "Just a reminder to you all that for every horror story in Hollywood, there are a hundred in the music industry."
The Redditor continued, "It is insanely predatory at every level, and the most insane things are completely normalized."

Sickens me to see further artists suffer what Little Mix went through with being told to flirt with people in order to promote their albums. One of the group's members, Jade Thirlwall, said per Extra.ie, "We went to a radio event in America, full of VIPs. Someone from the [US] label said, 'Go and flirt with all those important men.'"
Thirlwall added, "I was like, f-ck off. Why have I got to go in and flirt to get my song on the radio?"
