Tom Welling's recent appearance has come under security following his recent arrest for driving under the influence.
The "Smallville" star was taken into custody on Monday in California after tests revealed his blood alcohol level was at or above 0.08 percent.
After authorities released his mugshot, some social media users criticized Tom Welling, commenting that he seemed to have aged badly and calling out his DUI arrest.
Tom Welling Was Arrested In An Arby's Parking Lot
The DUI incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning in an Arby's parking lot in Yreka, California, as reported by TMZ.
The actor was then taken into custody on a charge of misdemeanor driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08%.
He was later cited and released without bail and is expected to appear in court for his charge.
Welling has yet to release any comments regarding his arrest, seemingly hoping the buzz around the news will die down over time.
Fans Were Shocked By The Actor's Seemingly Aged Appearance In His Mugshot
In the wake of his recent DUI arrest, Welling faced criticism on social media for appearing noticeably worse for wear in his mugshot.
Many comments focused on how drastically he has "aged" compared to his boyish look during his time playing Clark Kent in the Superman-inspired series "Smallville."
One user wrote, "This is the guy from Smallville? What the f-ck happened to him?" to which another user replied, "He was hot in Smallville and Lucifer; I guess alcohol happened."
Someone else commented, "Oh, he used to be cute. " A different person said, "Look at how far he has fallen," alongside a photo of Wellington's younger self.
Tom Welling Was Also Criticized For Not Taking An 'Uber' Despite Allegedly Being Intoxicated
Other fans of Welling criticized the actor for driving under the influence and wondered why he didn't opt for a safer alternative to get home.
One wrote, "This is sad!! Love Tom. He's such a gentle soul. Hope he gets help. Ridiculous to drive drunk when he could have gotten an Uber, though."
Another commented, "He made the horrible mistake of driving while drunk. If he had got an Uber or had his wife pick him up, everything would've been fine."
"Tom, I love you, but please never do that again. You should know better!" the fan added about Welling's DUI arrest.
He Recently Celebrated His Wife's Birthday With A Heart Warming Post
Recently, the actor shared pictures of himself and his wife, Jessica Rose Lee, to celebrate her birthday.
In one photo, the couple was seen riding horses while dressed in cowboy-style attire.
Other pictures featured Lee alone, captured during various outings, with the actress sporting a wide smile in most of the shots.
"Happy Birthday to our Angel who makes our dreams come true and inspires us even more," Welling captioned his post.
He added, "We love you to the moon and back! @jessicarosewelling #happybirthday #love.”
The duo have been married for over five years and share two sons: Thomson Wylde, six, and Rocklin Von, three.
The Actor Is Open To Reprising His Role As Superman
Over the years, Welling's character in "Smallville" has gathered critical acclaim as one of the best representations of the Man of Steel despite the show ending in 2011.
In 2019, he played the character once more in the CW Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths," appearing in the "Batwoman" episode alongside his "Smallville" co-star Erica Durance, who reprised her role as Lois Lane.
Welling now hopes to one day play the character again to satisfy his kids.
"You know, I think now because of the two boys that I have with my lovely wife … we have a bunch of costumes at home," Welling said in a chat with Comicbookmovie.com in October, per the Daily Mail.
He continued, "It started out at the first Halloween and now we have, I don't know, 40 or 50 costumes. The one costume we don't have is the Superman costume."
"I asked my son why, and he said, 'Because he's taken,' and I said, 'By who?' 'By [you].' That was like, 'Alright, I think I'm open to the idea now,'" Welling further remarked, adding, "I think it would be great."
