Taylor Swift sent her fans into a frenzy on Friday morning when they noticed two of her albums, her self-titled 2006 debut and 2017’s “Reputation,” appeared to have been removed from Spotify.
Swifties quickly began theorizing about the mysterious disappearance, with many speculating that the pop icon might be preparing to release the “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings of the two albums.
Others suspected the removals of Taylor Swift's albums were accidental, possibly due to a glitch on the music streaming platform.

After fans noticed her self-titled debut album from 2006 and 2017’s "Reputation" seemed to have been removed from Spotify, they took to social media to voice concerns.
“THERE’S NO REPUTATION OR DEBUT STOLEN VERSION ON SPOTIFY OMG WHAT THE F-CK IS HAPPENING EVERYBODY CALM DOWN,” one fan wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, sharing a screen recording of the app that showed the missing tracks.
"TAYLOR REPUTATION’S TRYING TO ESCAPE THE VAULT AGAIN," another exclaimed.

The posts continued to fly in, with one X user expressing, "I'm actually so concerned."
"OH MY GOD OH MY GOD," another said.
As of the time of publication, Swift’s debut album has returned to her Spotify discography, but “Reputation” remains missing.
Could 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)' Be On The Way?
The removal of “Reputation” has led many fans to believe that “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” could be next in line for release. Some have even speculated that her 2006 self-titled debut album might also take the spotlight soon. Swift herself has not explicitly confirmed “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” but fans are convinced she has been dropping hints since 2022.
Anticipation for the re-recording has been building for years. When Swift attended the 2022 VMAs in an outfit reminiscent of her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, many Swifties expected an imminent announcement. Instead, she surprised them with her new album, “Midnights.”
A similar situation unfolded at the 2024 Grammys when she wore black-and-white attire—a nod fans interpreted as a reference to “Reputation.” Instead of unveiling the re-recording, however, Swift announced her latest project, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Swifties Share Fan Theories Surrounding Possible New Album
Despite these diversions, fans have identified a consistent pattern in Swift’s release strategy: two re-recordings in one year, followed by a new album the next. By this reasoning, holding off on "Reputation (Taylor’s Version)" until 2024 aligns with the plan.
One compelling clue pointing to 2025 for the highly anticipated re-recording is the arrival of the Year of the Snake—a symbol deeply tied to the Reputation era.
With the new year comes a fresh wave of speculation. While Swifties had plenty to celebrate during the second half of the 2024 Eras Tour, highlighted by the release of Taylor’s latest album, "Reputation" remained a focal point.
Now, with 2025 underway, fans are more certain than ever that the re-recorded album is on the horizon, bolstered by a new theory predicting its imminent release.
Inside Taylor Swift's Dispute With Big Machine Records
The news over the missing albums ties back to Swift’s highly publicized dispute with Big Machine Records and former music manager Scooter Braun over the ownership of her master recordings.
After Braun and the label acquired full ownership of her original recordings, Swift took action by re-recording her first six albums to reclaim ownership. So far, she’s released four re-recorded albums: “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” in 2021, followed by “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” in 2023.
Is a New Taylor Swift Album on the Horizon for 2025?
Since "Reputation" drew significant inspiration from Swift’s public fallout with West and the media storm that followed, releasing the re-recorded album exactly five years after the leak would be a poetic way to close that chapter. It would mark a powerful moment of reclaiming her story on her own terms.
Fans, however, are speculating that "Reputation (Taylor’s Version)" could arrive in the first half of the year, with her re-recorded debut album following in the second half. Coupled with the release of Taylor’s new movie and the potential for a 12th studio album, 2025 is already shaping up to be another landmark year for Swifties.
