The star of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" recently held a mental health related Q&A on her Instagram Stories and shared some tips that have helped her with fans who could relate.
From dealing with heartbreak to what helps her anxiety and everything in between, Paul got real about the topic of mental health, one that isn't always talked about openly.
Taylor Frankie Paul Held A Themed Q&A With Fans On Instagram
On Thursday, Paul shared an Instagram Story asking her followers to "Ask anything. Theme is mental health."
Topics included heartbreak, dealing with depression and anxiety, her "awakening," and overthinking, to name a few.
"Does your anxiety ever show with nausea? If so, how do you manage that?" one fan asked. Paul shared her reply in an Instagram Story, "Yes there are times I get to a place of feeling that. Try and lay down shift thoughts, take a nap, it's pretty bad if I'm feeling that way."
Taylor Frankie Paul Said She's 'Not Good' Coping With Heartbreak
One follower wanted to know how Paul copes with heartbreak, something she's currently dealing with since her recent breakup from Dakota Mortensen.
"I'm not good with this myself," she replied to a fan asking, "How do you cope with heartbreak? I'm a few days out of a 3.5 year relationship."
Paul added, "Take it day by day. Feel the pain, grieve. Can feel like a death. After learning from my past, I just cry and let the pain in so it can pass through, or any other emotions...sadness, anger, etc."
In another reply to a fan question, Paul revealed that she was going to therapy three times a week but is now "down to one or two times." She also shared that her "nervous system hasn't been normal for years," and the way she regulates it is with "cold showers, deep breaths, and shift thoughts."
Let's Talk 'Awakening'
One fan wanted to know more about what Paul has called her "awakening." The fan wanted to know if it happened with the help of "talk therapy," "Ketamine," or "EMDR."
"I feel like I had it recently in therapy...my therapist helped," Paul shared. "I was given books, podcasts, tools...to get centered, aware, conscious."
Her response continued explaining, "Is it you in control in there? Or is it your thoughts...inner chatter or some call it your roommate. Who is in control? You or them?"
Another follower wanted to talk about overthinking and getting "stuck in" your own head.
"From what I've learned, ask yourself, what are my thoughts saying about whatever I'm stuck on," the reality star replied. "What's making me feel this way and why? A lot of asking yourself what's the belief behind it."
'Showing Up As A Good Mom'
Paul also revealed that the "hardest challenge" she faces has to do with "showing up as a good mom while managing debilitating anxiety/depression."
"The hardest challenge I face, being honest and upfront, expressing to them, hey today mom is having a hard day so they are aware of why you're off," she said. "I'm big on saying sorry to them. Sharing your emotions is healthy so they feel comfortable doing the same."
When another fan asked Paul some "tips on learning to love yourself," Paul said that she's "still learning" as she goes.
"Give yourself grace as you would to your friend or your child," she explained.
Taylor Frankie Paul Also Gave Advice About Friends Who Don't Support You When You're 'Down'
Fans of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" who follow the MomTok crew on social media know all too well that the group has had some struggles in the friendship department. Recently, Paul and fellow MomTok mom, Whitney Leavitt, have been shading each other through videos on TikTok.
So when one follower asked, "Should I still be friends with someone who I feel doesn't support me when I am down?" Paul had something to share.
"If someone knows you're down and intentionally doesn't help, that's not a friend, that's a snake in the grass and stay away from them," she shared. "However, if they are also struggling or surviving, that's different and may have trouble supporting while they are drowning. Comes down to their intentions."
Another fan asked, "How are you able to handle all of the weird drama with your friend group?"
Paul responded, "It's stressful at times, but that's usually the least stressful part of my life."
Season 1 of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" is currently streaming on Hulu and will make its broadcast debut on ABC on January 27 as part of ABC's Winter Programming Line-Up. Season 2 is currently filming, and according to Paul, will be released on Hulu in May 2025.
