Travis Kelce is speaking out amid recent cheating allegations made by rapper Lil Wayne following the Kansas City Chiefs' controversial playoff win.

The Chiefs secured a 23-14 victory against the Houston Texans during the AFC Division Game on Saturday, January 18, but not without backlash. On the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, the NFL star, and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce addressed the accusations and Lil Wayne’s less-than-favorable reaction. The rapper, a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to vent his frustration, writing, “It’s not even impressive when u cheat and then clearly try to cheat. Just win baby.”

During the podcast, Jason brought up the widespread criticism of the officiating during the game. “The whole world was talking about something else during the game, and I’m sure you saw some of this, but they were complaining about the refs again, Trav,” he said.

The officiating in the Kansas City Chiefs' 23-14 victory over the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday night drew heavy criticism, with questionable calls sparking backlash from broadcasters, players, and fans alike.

The scrutiny began early in the game when Houston edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. was flagged for roughing the passer on a critical third down in the first quarter. The penalty came after Anderson appeared to push Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the chest following an incomplete pass to tight end Travis Kelce. Despite the seemingly minor contact, officials deemed it a penalty, extending the Chiefs’ drive, which ultimately ended in a field goal.

Another controversial call occurred in the third quarter during a Mahomes scramble. As Mahomes evaded defenders with two blockers in front of him, he slid to avoid contact. Texans linebacker Henry To’oTo’o was penalized for unnecessary roughness after making contact with Mahomes around the neck during the slide. The penalty moved the Chiefs further upfield, setting up a touchdown on the drive.

The calls did not sit well with many, including ESPN broadcaster and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. He expressed his frustration after the penalty on To’oTo’o, saying, "Oh, come on. I mean, he’s a runner. I could not disagree with that one more. He barely gets hit. That’s the second penalty now that’s been called against the Texans.”

Aikman also called for changes to how such plays are officiated, adding, "They’ve gotta address it in the offseason. You can’t, as a quarterback, run around and play games with defenders and then be able to draw a penalty."

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans shared similar sentiments during a post-game interview. Speaking to ESPN, Ryans said, "We knew going into this game, man, it was us versus everybody. And when I say everybody, it's everybody. Knowing that going into this game, what we were up against, we can't make the mistakes that we made."

While the calls drew widespread condemnation, the impact was clear: both penalties directly influenced the outcome, with one extending a drive that ended in a field goal and the other setting up a touchdown.

The controversial officiating has reignited discussions about how penalties are called in the NFL, particularly in high-stakes playoff games, leaving fans and analysts wondering if changes are needed in the offseason to prevent similar controversies in the future.
