Dobrev, who turned 36 on January 9, revealed that she and her fiancé, Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, had to evacuate their home as the fires spread dangerously close to their neighborhood.
"The devastation in LA is immeasurable and heartbreaking," she began in her lengthy Instagram caption. "This is my plea to help. For my birthday, my only wish this year is that you help a family in need."
"I’ve donated to the families on the Google doc that is linked in my bio," she continued. "If you have been seeing all of the pictures and videos online and if you want to help too, please consider donating as well. There is a dedicated section for the black families & other historically marginalized groups in the Altadena community who have been hit especially hard."
She then thanked her fans for their "support always, but especially now." "The road to rebuilding and healing for so many families who have lost everything starts now, and it will be a long one…," she wrote.

The "Vampire Diaries" alum also took the opportunity to encourage her followers to support wildfire survivors. She explained that while many families initially received clothing donations, financial help is now urgently needed.
“It’s been such a tragic time in Los Angeles recently,” she said in her video. “I have been absolutely sick to my stomach with all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused and displaced so many families. My heart is broken for all the people affected by these wildfires.”
“I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling survivor’s guilt,” she admitted. “Our home, although close to the fires, thankfully made it, but so many others were not so lucky.”
“For my birthday this year, I went down that list and I donated to those families,” Dobrev shared. “It would be my birthday wish if you could do the same. I put myself in the shoes of all these people whose homes burned down to the ground. For some of them, the level of tragedy is immeasurable, and it’s really hard to comprehend. They’ve lost everything, and my heart breaks into a million pieces for them.”
A Message of Hope and Healing
Dobrev concluded her message with a heartfelt note to those affected by the fires. “Sending my love to all those who need it right now,” she said. “The journey of healing is a long one, and I’m sending so much love to you.”
Dobrev’s emotional plea highlights the ongoing need for support as Los Angeles residents continue to recover from the catastrophic wildfires.

Actress Tyra Banks shared a similar sentiment, revealing that while her home survived the fires, she chose to remain low-key, believing the spotlight should focus on those in need of help.
. “I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me,” she said on "Sunrise." “I feel like there’s a lot of people that need that attention. … But I can’t sit here and not tell the truth.”
“We were at a friend’s house here, and we were celebrating and having fun,” she added. “I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but for friends and family, making sure they were evacuating and everything. And then I asked my partner, I was like, ‘I’m seeing something here, what do you think?’ and he [nodded].”
Banks concluded by admitting, “I pulled it together and just didn’t say anything to my friends and just stayed in the moment,” she shared. “And then we went home, and we cried, and we had our moment.”
