Marvel actor Chris Pratt has joined the conversation, speaking out about the devastating Pacific Palisades wildfires.
Homes and structures are burning as relentless, wind-swept wildfires continue to devastate the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and Altadena, a community near Pasadena, California. The fires, driven by ferocious winds and dry conditions, have created a chaotic and harrowing scene as residents scramble to escape towering flames and thick clouds of smoke.
Amid the escalating crisis, actor Chris Pratt took to social media with an emotional plea, urging the public to pray for the residents, first responders, and everyone affected by the devastating Southern California wildfires.
Marvel Actor Chris Pratt Asked The Public For Prayers For All Of Those Affected
Wildfires erupted Tuesday evening near a nature preserve in the foothills northeast of Los Angeles, spreading at an alarming rate. "Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires," Pratt wrote in an Instagram post. "Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate."
The situation grew so dire that staff at a senior living center had to evacuate dozens of residents in wheelchairs and hospital beds. In a dramatic display of resilience, elderly residents—one as old as 102—were pushed down the street to a nearby parking lot. Wrapped in blankets and still in their bedclothes, they waited under an ominous red sky as embers fell around them until ambulances, buses, and even construction vans arrived to transport them to safety.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor then thanked the first responders and firefighters for all of their hard work.
"Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds," he added. "You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage."
"Let’s all come together to support one another during this tough time. #ThankYouFirstResponders," he concluded.
One of the three active wildfires is burning in the Pacific Palisades area—an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood where the "Parks and Recreation" actor resides with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, and their children, though it's unclear whether Chris and Katherine have been forced to evacuate their $15.6 million mansion.
Chris And Katherine's Family Home In The Pacific Palisades
Before the fires hit, Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger announced that they would be embarking on an exciting new chapter as they build their dream home in Brentwood, California. The couple, who purchased their current home in the celebrity-favored Palisades neighborhood in 2021 for $15.6 million, have decided to upgrade their living space to accommodate their growing family.
Married in 2019, Chris and Katherine are proud parents to two daughters, Lyla, four, and Eloise, two, as well as their newest addition, baby boy Ford Fitzgerald Schwarzenegger Pratt, born in November. Chris also shares his eldest son, Jack, with his ex-wife, actress Anna Faris.
Wildfires Affect The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Nominations
The wildfires have not only caused immense destruction but have also disrupted key events in the entertainment industry. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations, originally planned for an in-person announcement on Wednesday, were shifted to a press release format due to safety concerns. Actors Joey King and Cooper Koch, who were set to host the live announcement, stood down as the focus shifted to public safety.
Despite the disruptions, the 31st annual SAG Awards ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell, is still scheduled to stream live on Netflix on February 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The SAG Awards are widely regarded as a strong predictor for Oscar winners in both acting and best picture categories.
The fires have also forced the cancellation of several high-profile entertainment events, including the premiere of the Robbie Williams biopic "Better Man," Jennifer Lopez's upcoming film "Unstoppable," and Universal Pictures' anticipated horror movie "Wolf Man."
More Information About The Ongoing Wildfires In Southern California
The Palisades Fire was first reported at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday and has rapidly grown to at least 2,921 acres with zero containment, according to CalFire (the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection).
More than 10,300 homes are threatened by the blaze, and while the number of structures damaged or destroyed remains unclear, L.A. fire officials have reported multiple burn victims. The chaotic evacuation efforts have caused significant traffic congestion on several major Los Angeles roadways, with some residents abandoning their vehicles and fleeing on foot.
Compounding the crisis, a second wildfire, the Eaton Fire, broke out Tuesday night in the hills above Altadena, a northern Los Angeles County community, prompting additional evacuation orders. CalFire reports that this fire has already burned at least 1,000 acres.
Meanwhile, a third blaze, the Hurst Fire, ignited in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles late Tuesday night and quickly spread across hundreds of acres, also forcing evacuations. In response to the escalating emergency, California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency to mobilize resources and support firefighting efforts.
