Fast-moving wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area, with actor Josh Gad sharing an emotional video of the devastation caused by the Pacific Palisades Fire.

The fires have prompted mandatory evacuations of over 80,000 people, as first responders work tirelessly to combat the infernos. The Palisades Fire alone has already scorched nearly 3,000 acres, while the Eaton Fire has consumed 1,000 acres and the Hurst Fire has affected 500 acres. Fueled by dry conditions and fierce winds, the fires show no sign of slowing down, with meteorologists warning of intensified winds overnight.

In his heartfelt post, Josh Gad expressed gratitude to the brave first responders risking their lives to protect homes, wildlife, and communities.

"I hope everyone is staying safe tonight in the affected fire areas in Los Angeles," Gad wrote. "My deepest gratitude and appreciation goes out to our brave fire and rescue and police forces who are doing everything in their power to keep the residents of Los Angeles safe right now."

Firefighting resources across Los Angeles are being pushed to their limits. The Los Angeles Fire Department has requested that all off-duty firefighters check in with their supervisors to determine their availability for emergency deployment.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also addressed the crisis in an overnight post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, stating, "The state has deployed 1,400+ firefighting personnel and hundreds of prepositioned assets to combat these unprecedented fires in LA. Emergency officials, firefighters, and first responders are all hands on deck through the night to do everything possible to protect lives."

To bolster local efforts, California has secured assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Fire Management Assistance Grant. This funding allows local departments to seek reimbursement for up to 75% of the expenses incurred while battling the flames.

Firefighter Sustained Serious Injury While Battling Palisades Fire

Amidst the chaos, a tragic incident underscored the dangers faced by firefighters on the front lines. According to CBS News, a 25-year-old female firefighter battling the Palisades Fire sustained a serious head injury around 8:30 PM local time, according to L.A. Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Erik Scott. She received treatment on-site before being transported to a hospital for further evaluation.

Adding to the grim night, about 30 minutes after the firefighter's injury, multiple burn victims were reported walking toward a nearby restaurant. Medical teams were swiftly dispatched to provide aid.
