Jodie Turner-Smith Seeks Divorce Trial Amid Dispute Over Spousal Support

Jodie Turner-Smith is taking a firm stand in her divorce from Joshua Jackson. As tensions over spousal support escalate, she is demanding a trial date.
The actress' recent move follows a December 2024 filing in which she submitted an income and expense declaration seeking spousal and child support for their daughter.This marks a shift from her initial request in October 2023, when she filed for divorce and sought to terminate their rights to spousal support.
Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Juno Rose Jackson, in 2020.

Turner-Smith has formally requested a three-day trial to resolve ongoing disputes in her divorce from Jackson. Represented by high-profile attorney Laura Wasser, the actress claims the father of her child has failed to provide any financial support since their separation, leaving her to shoulder it alone.
In court filings, Turner-Smith accused the actor of dragging out the process and inflating her legal and accounting costs.
"Josh has run up my attorney's fees and forensic accounting costs and has made this dissolution far more difficult than necessary," she stated, adding that his unwillingness to "negotiate reasonable [temporary] spousal and child support payments" left her no option but to seek court intervention.
Turner-Smith emphasized her efforts to co-parent their daughter Juno while maintaining her demanding career. In Touch reports that she also recalled Jackson's past promises to support her, noting:
"Josh promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother."

Turner-Smith's divorce from the "Dawson's Creek" actor might get more contentious, with the mother-of-one seeking resolution on other issues, including custody, child support, division of property, and mounting attorney fees.
Central to the dispute is the former couple's marital home, which Turner-Smith claims is being wrongfully labeled as Jackson's separate property.
In her filing, the 38-year-old disclosed that she contributed $800,000 toward the down payment after Jackson allegedly claimed he lacked the "necessary funds at the time to purchase the land."
Turner-Smith emphasized that the marital home has become a "central point of support and dispute" in their separation, accusing her estranged husband of attempting to secure it for himself.

While making her case for spousal and child support, Turner-Smith also revealed stark financial differences between her and her estranged husband.
As reported by The Blast, the actress disclosed in legal documents that Jackson earned $2,351,765 in 2022, with an estimated monthly income of $195,000.
Comparatively, her monthly earnings averaged $87,500, spiking to over $245,000 in December. The star stated she had $4,945 in liquid assets and $366,289 in easily sellable investments.
Despite her income, Turner-Smith outlined significant expenses as a single mother, including $40,000 in rent, $509 for childcare, $1,800 for groceries, $2,612 for clothing, and $3,291 for entertainment. Other expenses included $2,000 for the car and $6,000 for supporting family members.

Turner-Smith shed more light on her tumultuous divorce from Jackson, painting a dire picture. She emphasized that although the father-of-one consistently earned more throughout their marriage, he has failed to contribute to their daughter's care since their separation.
Turner-Smith claimed his refusal to cooperate has delayed proceedings and left her footing the bill for legal fees.
The actress said she has spent over $412,000 of her own funds on divorce-related expenses, accusing Jackson of making the process "far more difficult than necessary."
Despite the challenges, Turner-Smith said her priority remains protecting their daughter from the fallout and striving to maintain stability.

In light of her many alleged expenses, Turner-Smith asked the court for over $30,000 in monthly support from Jackson. The request includes $8,543 for child support and $28,641 for spousal support.
Turner-Smith claimed Jackson failed to uphold his financial promises, instead pressuring her to accept a settlement she considers unfair. The actress also asked the court to require Jackson to pay $250,000 toward her legal expenses and forensic accounting costs.
With a trial date looming, the tensions surrounding Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith show no signs of easing.
