“The first time I saw my husband, I thought he was gay and I tried to set him up on a date with a male friend of mine,” Ray admitted with a laugh, according to Us Weekly. “And he said, ‘But I am not gay.’”

Ray’s surprise quickly turned into excitement. “Then I was like, ‘Check, please,’ and I couldn’t wait to get him in the sack,” she joked. “It was [a memorable evening] and he is a very blessed man.”

Their chemistry was undeniable, and the two began dating shortly after their first encounter. The couple eventually tied the knot and have been happily married ever since.

Reflecting on their wedding day, Ray humorously shared an anecdote about Cusimano’s unique suit sizing. “I had to buy two different sized suits for our wedding from Prada because his jacket was one size and his trouser was another,” she quipped. “I certainly am — I am a very lucky lady.

The two tied the knot on September 24, 2005, in a romantic ceremony held at the Castello di Velona, a stunning castle in Tuscany, Italy. The wedding was a picturesque affair, set against the rolling hills of the Italian countryside, and reflected the couple's shared love for food, wine, and music.

But now we do everything together, which of course is a huge adjustment.”

Despite the challenges, the couple discovered a newfound appreciation for each other’s roles in their shared ventures. “I think that we now have a better understanding of the role each of us has played behind the scenes,” she added.

When asked about the secret to their lasting marriage, Ray emphasized the importance of personal space and mutual respect.

“I am very wildly, wildly, wildly lucky that I have my husband,” Ray shared on her "I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead" podcast in October 2024. “But he understands I need my space. He needs his space. John and I largely stay in separate corners.”
